Re: The Surprising Kansas Jayhawks==Can They Steal a Game From the Sooners??
Honestly, I don't see a whole lot of difference between the hitting yesterday and the hitting today other than the end result of scoring runs. Yesterday 2 or three good plays from Kansas that prevented what would have been hits for the Sooners - today ground balls off the gloves of Kansas infielders...

Re: Sooner Softball: 15-2 Win over Tech - Some thoughts about today.
He seemed to get whinier as the weekend went along. What's more likely, 3 different umpires being the cause of almost 30 walks in three games, or Texas Tech pitchers who want to get people out without throwing the ball over the plate?

Re: Some Sooner Softball Stats compared to other teams
We make comparisons often to the 2021 team, but because of the Covid situation the Sooners didn't face the best competition early in that season. I would be curious what the effect of taking out three games early on in which they scored 83 total runs (50 in two games against UTEP and 33 against New ...

I thought that the softball specification change was to go into effect this season.

Re: What Are Your Expectations For the Sooners 2024 Softball Season????
There was, but it is gone now, along with an answer that I provided. I differ in my belief of the rule from MontOUFan though. If the ball hits the hand (fingers) it is not a hit batter it is a strike. The best examples are on bunts. If the ball hit the hand holding the bat down the barrel of the ba...

Re: What Are Your Expectations For the Sooners 2024 Softball Season????
Wasn't there a post with a question about the hands being part of the bat or am I losing my mind?

Re: What Are Your Expectations For the Sooners 2024 Softball Season????
The wording of the question makes it a little difficult. If the batter swings at a pitch it doesn't matter if the ball hits the batter. It is a dead-ball strike. This is true whether the ball rolls into play and a fielder throws it to first or the ball rolls foul. The hands are not part of the bat, ...

Re: OU vs Arizona Alamo Bowl 28 Dec Leadup Thread
All the jet sweeps and outside quick screens are designed to get the defense to have to play the entire width of the field. Theoretically it is designed to open up zones in the passing game and keep the linebackers and corners honest against the inside run game. Without them the throwing windows in ...

Re: If you Could
Read an interesting article (it's over a year old now) about the effect of the professionalization of college sports (paying players as employees and all that that entails) and how Title IX comes into play. Here are some highlights: “I always say that Title IX is probably the most powerful force in ...

Re: Mirror NfL Free Agency
NIL is not a salary that can be capped. The school is not paying the player. It would be like the NFL telling Patrick Mahomes that he can only make so much from his endorsement deals.

Re: Easy Question
NIL Collectives are supposed to be independent organizations/entities that raise funds and direct those funds to student athletes in exchange for the use of their name/image/likeness to endorse a product or business, make special appearances, use social media as influence, or even support a particul...

Re: Easy Question
I know that most people think that perception is reality, but I keep coming back to the whole premise of NIL in light of people’s comments that “OU offered him this,” or “Colorado gave him a huge bag” and feel a need to point out that NIL collectives are structurally independent of a school. Univers...

All of these attempts to change NIL and the Transfer Portal would last as long as the next lawsuit.

Re: My Way Too Early Pre Season Top 10 Softball Teams
Great breakdown and analysis here. Loved it! I agree with OUBeliever about Arkansas. They have had a number of recent good recruiting classes and they always seem to have tremedous potential when the season begins. However, when the post season rolls around they have underachieved significantly. The...
