On June the out6, we remember the greatest amphibious landing known as D-Day.
This not the only important WWII day this week. On June 4,1942, the outnumbered forces of the United States Navy turned the tide of the Pacific war at Midway Island. In a 5 minute span, dive bombers from the USS Enterprise, Hornet and Yorktown critically hit 3 Japanese aircraft carriers and later sank a 4th carrier off Midway Island. The Japanese were not able to recover from the loss of ships and trained pilots. The US took the offensive 3 months later and the rest, as they say, is history.
