Sooners drop Big 12 Tourney finale to OSU 9-3.

Post by OUBeliever56A »

The Oklahoma Sooners ran out of steam on Saturday as the Oklahoma State Cowboys hit their way to a 9-3 win in the Big 12 Finals. The OSU bats got very hot the last two days as they scored 10 runs in both games that they played on Friday and 9 runs on Saturday and their pitchers got hot and allowed only 4 runs in those 3 games.

The Sooners used 6 pitchers on Saturday in their 4th game in 4 days deciding to not over use their starting pitchers trying to win the Big 12 tournament. (My thoughts only.) they stayed the plan and focused on what is ahead of them. the 4-2 game in favor of OSU was broken open by the Cowboys with 3 runs in the top of the 7th and 2 more runs in the top of the 8th as OSU led 9-2 with OU having two at bats left in the game. Oklahoma scored one run in the 8th to create the final score of 9-3.

Snyder and Pettis had two hits each of the 7 total hits for the Sooners. Spikerman, Carmichael and Snyder had doubles. OU picked up 5 walks also in the game along side of 10 Ks.

Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the game.

The Sooners are now looking forward to the NCAA Selection show on Monday at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN2 as OU awaits its seeding for the NCAA tournament. Hopefully, that is a Top 8 Seed in the tourney with their 40-17 record and Big 12 Regular Season and the runner-up in the Big 12 Tournament on their resume.

Things are looking up in Norman and at L Dale Mitchell Park for the Sooner Baseball Program. Good luck to them going forward.
