Game 2 in Austin: Texas wins 2-1. Sooners 35-2 - Good in Norman

Game 2 in Austin was a very good softball game. The Texas defense was as good as I have witnessed in a long time. Kudos to Mia Scott, BTW, she was flawless on maybe 6 chances last night.

OU made one mistake on the bases with two outs and it costs them.

Texas had back-to-back doubles and it benefited them.

May pitched good enough to win. The Sooner bats were pretty quiet.

The play that ended the game was a great relay from Henry to Martinez to Atwood and the umpires got it right on the obstruction call. The play was very similar to the play in PV where OU was called for obstruction. The call tonight was the right call and the call in PV was a bad error by the home plate ump. There is no way to slice that but that just like that.

I am not sure I understood the handling of the Sooner pitchers at the end of the game but somehow, with the help of replay for leaving the bag early, the Longhorns did not score again in the 6th.

Gutierrez pitched a very nice ball game for Texas.

OU still leads Texas by 3 games in the Big 12 and OSU by two games. OU lost their 10th, yes only their 10th game, since the start of the 2021 season. Probably every team in the country has lost 10 games in a single season since the start of the 2021 season. Maybe no one else has lost as few as 25 games in the last 4 seasons.

Everything is fine with the Sooners. The bats should show up today and the Sooners should be able to win the series and keep that streak going. It has been since 2011 at Columbia, Missouri that OU did not win a conference series.
