Post by OUBeliever56A »

The Oklahoma Sooner Men's Golf Team is in Augusta (no that THAT course in Augusta) this weekend at the Haskins Invitational. The course played this weekend is the Forest Hills Golf Club. The 54-hole, two-day tournament opens on Saturday with 36 holes, followed by a final round on Sunday to determine a champion.

Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the Invitational.

Oklahoma's lineup card features Stephen Campbell Jr., Ben Lorenz, Drew Goodman, Ryder Cowan and Luke Kluver.

Good luck to the Sooner Men this weekend.

The Oklahoma Sooners used the afternoon round on Saturday to get them selves back into the tourney as they shot 4 under par, 284, as a team. That followed an uncharacteristic 5-over par in the morning round as no Sooner shot under par in the opening round. In the afternoon, three Sooners shot less than even par, 72, that helped the Sooners to the 4-under round in the afternoon. The Sooners at 1-over par at 577 was sitting in 6th place after the first day. OU was 7 shots out of 2nd Place after 36 holes.

Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the first 36 holes.

On Sunday in Augusta (Does every golfer dream of saying that about themselves?), the Sooners shot a very nice 281, 7-under par round and managed to stay in a tie for 6th place in the tournament but was unable to move into the top 5 spots. Oklahoma was 1 shot out of the 5th place spot as OU picked up 3 shots on the final hole while to finsih in the tie for 6th.

As a team, Oklahoma has now finished under par in all nine stroke-play events this season and at 17 of their last 18 tournaments dating back to last season, with the only exception being the 2023 NCAA Championships at Grayhawk GC. However, the Sooners' sixth-place finish snapped the team's streak of top-fives at nine tournaments.

- Ben Lorenz led the round on Sunday with a 69, 3-under par. That enabled Lorenz to finish the tourney at Even par, 216 in a T20th place.
- Stephan Campbell Jr shot a 70, 2-under par on Sunday. That placed Campbell Jr in a T10th in the tourney at 3-under, 213 shots.
- Ryder Cowan shot a 71, 1-under par on Sunday. That also placed Cowan in a T10th in the tourney and 3-under, 213.
- Luke Kluver also shot a 71, 1-under par on Sunday. That brought him to 1-over par at 217 for the tourney and in a T25th in the tourney.
- Drew Goodman shot the 3rd 71 for a 1-under round on Sunday. That brought his score to 3-over par and in a T37th in the tourney.

The Sooners close the regular season next weekend at The Thunderbird, held annually at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix. OU tees off on Friday morning in the two-day, 54-hole tournament, where it'll go for a final tune-up before the Big 12 Championship on April 22-24.
