A fairly significant upset has happened in the Ann Arbor regional (the other half of our bracket.

The host Michigan had 2 falls on Beam and had to count a ~9.2 and is out of the competition.

Final results (top 2 advance)

Alabama (8 seed) 197.400
Penn state 196.925
Michigan (9 seed) 196.725
Kent. 195.600

That means no one will have “home” court advantage on Saturday in the regional final.

Here is the Sooner Staff writer article about the Sooners performance last night with their 198.050 as they move on to the Regional Finals in Ann Arbor on Saturday. The Sooners won each apparatus and the All-Around title in the evening session.

https://soonersports.com/news/2024/4/4/ ... onal-final

The Sooners will be joined in the finals by second-place finisher Ohio State and Alabama and Penn State who advanced from Thursday's first session. Saturday's meet is set for a 4 p.m. CT start on ESPN+. The top two teams from Saturday's final will advance to the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas set for April 18-20.

Congratulations to the Team on their performance last night. It was their 11th straight 198+ score this season.

The Sooners had a decent meet and accomplished the 2 main goals - advance and stay healthy.

But, they were not crisp on several routines. I’m sure KJ had much to talk about, though Saturday is the same as last night - advance and stay healthy.

They still scored 198.050, which was the high score of the day in both the brackets that competed Thursday. The Florida and California brackets compete today. LSU won the Fayetteville bracket yesterday with a score of ~197.8 (from memory).

Four teams left in our bracket and the NQS:

OU 198.500
Alabama. 197.805
Ohio state. 197.110
Penn state. 196.825

Sooners just need to stay on their feet and they’ll be advancing to Fort Worth.

Advancing and staying healthy are great goals.

As long as 2 of our gymnasts don't fall off the beam, the team will be great 😃. No team in the country comes close

You know you're spoiled when you feel a little disappointed with a score of 198.050. It was our lowest score in the last 10 meets. I haven't watched the meet yet, but the scores seem lower overall. We still dominated the other teams.

On vault, scoring a 9.875 put you in the top 4. We had 3 of the top 4, and 5 of the top 7. Only Kat LeVasseur raised her NQS score with her 9.95. Our team score was the lowest in the last 9 meets. I'm going to have to see what happened on vault. Our previous low score was 9.675. Last night we got a 9.200.

On bars, a 9.90 put you in the top 4. Only Jordan Bowers raised her NQS score with her 9.975. Our team score was the lowest in the last 11 meets, and 3rd lowest on the season.

We had the top 4 scores on beam, with 6 of the top 8 scores. Ragan pulls out another 10.0 on a night when a 9.875 got you 5th place. Ragan was the only one to raise her NQS score, which is now a 10.0. I wonder if that's happened before.

Tropical - Ava fell on her vault - she didn’t rotate enough and “sat it down”.

Utah (5 seed) won the first half of the Florida bracket with a 197.925. Michigan state also advance. All chalk.

I saw KJ being interviewed about 2 meets in one weekend. She mentioned that they try to save some energy on the first night. I wonder if that translated to their scores?

Today is a big recovery day for them.
