The Oklahoma Sooner Women's Tennis Team (Ranked #22) won their road match against Iowa State 7-0 in just about an efficient match as they can play. The Sooners won the Doubles point with wins at #1 and #2 matches both by the score of 6-1. Match #3 had the Sooners was on serve at 3-4 when play was stopped.

In the Singles, The Sooners won all 6 matches in 2 straight sets. It was a very good, efficient and quick win for the Sooner Women. The win raised the Sooners to 6-2 in the Big 12 play and are in 5th place.

The Sooners play at Kansas on Saturday at Noon. The team is actually staying at the same hotel that we are staying at in Lawrence. I was able to talk to some of the team last night. They were happy about their win over I-State and are looking forward to facing Kansas on Saturday. They seemed happy that I knew 3 of them by name (I messed up on one) and that I knew about their play. I was happy to say hello to them.

Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the very strong win over I-State.

The Oklahoma Sooner Women's Tennis Team won 7-0 over Kansas on Saturday in their noon match in Lawrence, KS. I think this might be one of the team's better matches top to bottom this spring, especially in the Singles play.

In the Doubles, the Sooners picked up the Doubles Point with wins at the #1 and the #3 spots. On the #1 spot (#20-ranked Dana Guzman and Roisin Gilheany were first to finish as they won on the top court, 6-1. Then #55 Julia Garcia Ruiz and Zdena Safarova, was surprised on court two as they dropped thier match, 6-2. The Sooners won the point with a win on court three as Ava Catanzarite and Chloe Noel clinched the opening point with a 6-3 win.

Before the match, both teams agreed to play out all matches in the singles. Grabbing the first singles win on court one, #1 (39th-ranked Garcia Ruiz won 6-4, 6-2. Extending the lead, #3 (#95th-ranked Alina Shcherbinina secured a win in her match, 6-3, 6-1. At the #6 spot, Emma Staker clinched OU's 12th win of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Guzman was next to take the victory, at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-4. Noel added another point for the Sooners as she grabbed the 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) court-five win. To finish the sweep, Florencia Urrutia won the final match 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) on court four as she battled back for her win.
