Who's number 1

Houston took down ESPN's number 1 rated Texas last night 12-10 in 10 innings. Texas could not handle the pressure. With a sweep of Iowa State the Sooners should be back as unanimous number 1 in both polls.

I hope you are right, VN.

What is LSU looking like as a contender for the top spot?

They are in a strong position to be #1. They are the only one left with no losses....and certainly not any to a Houston or a Louisiana--(although I think the Cajuns are vastly underrated).

I would actually be fine if LSU reaches #1 since they are the only undefeated team left followed by OU #2 followed by texas. I do love the irony of the ranking services jumping at the chance to knock OU off #1 only to have the horns fall barely, what, 5-6 days after being anointed #1.

yeah.....everybody went nuts when they knocked off UCLA. And while the Bruins have been a little better the last few games....they already have 6 losses on the year and only 1/3 into the season. The Horns didn't defeat Faraimo, or Yanez, or even Shaw.

LSU definitely should get the nod for #1 this week, I think.

I’m fine if LSU gets the spot this week - in fact, I don’t care if OU is #1 or not, at least not at this point in the season.

I took a quick scroll thru the LSU schedule - prior to their sweep this weekend of UK (which is impressive), their record against ranked teams included only 13-12 over Northwestern and 7-6 over OSU. So there is still some doubt in my mind if they’re a contender or a pretender.

They have a big mid-week against Texas this week.

Finally.....Texas gets to play in a "For Real" Hostile environment.
Kavan vs Berzon.

I'm going with the Tigers.

Looks like it will be televised by the SEC network tomorrow at 11 AM. Don't know if ESPN+ will be carrying it or not? Would be worth watching...

LSU wins over Horns, 7-4.

Tigers did the damage in the bottom of the 1st inning with a 3-run two-out double to take a 5-0 lead that they would not surrender, adding single runs in the 2nd and the 4th innings, while Texas added 4 runs in the 3rd and 4th innings, too little, too late.

LSU has a legitimate claim to the #1 spot, with their 22-0 record, compared to OU's 22-1 and UT's 21-3 records.

Like TennesseeSooner, I'd be OK if the Tigers got the top spot, it really doesn't matter this early in the season.
