In addition to the NQS rankings, senior Ragan Smith was named the Big 12 Co-Gymnast of the Week after an incredible weekend that saw her extend her streak to four-consecutive perfect 10s on balance beam. Smith shared the honor with Denver's Jessica Hutchinson. This is the third career Gymnast of the Week honor for Smith and eighth overall. Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the award for Smith.

I haven’t followed NQS closely for very long, but I’m astounded we remain nearly 0.500 ahead of 2nd place - that is an amazing gap - I wonder what the largest gap between 1 and 2 has ever been in the NQS? If anyone has followed it more closely over the years and has observations, I’d love to hear them.

There's a website that has a lot of NQS current and historical scores. The down side is that their website isn't exactly intuitive...and I'm a software developer that has issues navigating their site.

To attempt to answer your question, these are Week 9 standings of the last few years. Keep in mind that these scores do NOT go down. They can only stay the same or go up. Also, the lower your score, the easier it is to go up. That means that I expect the field to catch up some.

Wow! Thanks for posting that. So, the margin the last several years seems to be around 0.100 or so mast years, with the largest differential being about 0.250. Our margin in 2024 is remarkable.
