TCU at Kansas - Kansas 83 TCU 81 - The 7'2" transfer Center from Michigan scored 30 for OU to more than offset the 24 by Tennyson of TCU. But the game was very close throughout as Kansas rallied from two points down late to win by 2. Kansas had 2 more field goals in the game. It was that close. Once again Kansas wins a close one in Lawrence.

West Virginia at Houston - Houston 89 WV 55 - Houston is very, very good. WV is not. Houston led 48-22 at half and coasted to the win while shooting 53% from the field compared to 32% for WV.

Baylor at Oklahoma State - Baylor 75 Okla State 70 - In the only overtime game in the Big 12 on Saturday, the Bears outscored OU 15-10 in OT to win the game. Baylor's four best beat OSU's 3 best in this game. OSU also had 5 more turnovers in the game.

Iowa State at Oklahoma - Oklahoma 71 Iowa State 63 - Godwin and Darthart delivered late for the Sooners in a key 2 minute stretch of the game lat to give OU the victory.

UCF at Kansas State - Kansas State 77 UCF 52 - K-State won both halves, 19-35 in the 1st and 33 to 42 in the 2nd. TCu made 2 more buckets, 4 more three's and 15 more free throws in the game. That produces a win every time.

Texas Tech at Texas - Texas Tech 78 Texas 67 - The Red Raiders ruined the home opener for the Longhorns, which makes me smile. Tech won both halves 37-33 and 41-34. Again the best 4 players for Tech beat only 3 top players for Texas in this game. Depth is a good thing. This was the biggest surprise of the Big 12 first Saturday outside of Lubbock.

Cincinnati at BYU - Cincy 71 BYU 60 - BYU led 31 to 24 at the half. Cincinnati turned the game around in the 2nd half and won 47-29 in that half to produce the 11 point win for the Bearcats. Cincy had 4 strong players on the day compared to 2 for BYU. Cincy shot 10% better from the field to lead to the win. This was the second surprise of the opening weekend in the Big 12.

Mid-Week Schedule for big 12 Men BB:

Tuesday - Jan 9th:

Kansas State at West Virginia - 6 PM ESPN+ ---> Kansas State should be 2-0 after Tuesday night.

Texas at Cincinnati - 6 PM ESPN+ ---> After a loss, Texas has to travel to Cincy to play on the road against a team that scored 47 points at BYU in the 2nd half of Saturday's game.

Houston at Iowa State - 6 PM ESPN+ ---> I wonder if Houston has ever traveled to Ames to play a basketball game. But Kelvin Sampson has when he was coach at OU. Iowa State won't give a win to Houston but I think Houston can manage the trip with their talent. An upset by the Cyclones would be the headline in M BB on Wednesday.

Oklahoma State at Texas Tech - 7 PM ESPN+ ---> Tech needs to keep their head on straight after their win over Texas on Saturday. OSU would like to surprise Tech after dropping a game in overtime to a tough Baylor squad. It will be interesting to see who wins this game.

BYU at Baylor - 8 PM ESPN+ ---> BYU will be looking to rebound after losing to Cincy with a poor 2nd half at home. Baylor is tough though in Waco. This game should be very good and perhaps one of the three best games on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Big 12. Houston at Iowa State and OU at TCU are the other two.

Wednesday Jan 10th:

Kansas at UCF - 6 PM ESPN+ ---> I think Kansas will be 2-0 after this game.

Oklahoma at TCU - 8 PM on ESPN2 ---> The Horned Frogs will want to rebound quickly from their bid to upset the Jayhawks on the road. Coach Moser has not won at TCU yet in his first two years. Now would be a good time to do something new with his best team yet at OU. This is also the first time in those two years that they playe dthe first game on the road at TCU while going 2-2 vs the Horned Frogs. This season, the Sooners play TCU just once. This is the rubber game for Coach Moser and the Sooners.
