Redshirt Players Eligible?
Are there any players who redshirted this year who will be eligible for the bowl game and might play like Sawchuck did last year?

Bowl games don't count against redshirt status, as I understand the rule. So all redshirts could play and not lose eligibility.
Edit: I went back and found the article (from 2022) that is the basis for my statement that Bowl games don't count against RS status. I believe that the NCAA did this to counter the current trend of players opting out of Bowl Games when they are planning or have declared for the NFL draft.

To be more specific, I don't even know where to find a list of players that redshirted this year and without that, it's hard to have any idea who we might see for the first time.

Here's a list of last year signee's that are freshmen. I've noted those that are injured and unavailable, and those that played in 5 or more games and are no longer RS.
OFFENSE:
Jackson Arnold, quarterback (No longer RS)
Jaquaize Pettaway, wide receiver (No longer RS)
Cayden Green, offensive lineman (No longer RS)
Joshua Bates, offensive lineman
Logan Howland, offensive lineman
Heath Ozaeta, offensive lineman
Kade McIntyre, tight end
Daylan Smothers, running back (In Portal)
Kalib Hicks, running back
DEFENSE:
Adepoju Adebawore, defensive end/edge (No longer RS)
Peyton Bowen, defensive back (No longer RS)
Samuel Omosigho, Cheetah linebacker (No longer RS)
Makari Vickers, cornerback (No longer RS - injured)
Jacobe Johnson, cornerback (No longer RS)
Jasiah Wagoner, cornerback (No longer RS)
Lewis Carter, linebacker (No longer RS)
Daeh McCullough, safety
Taylor Wein, defensive end/edge
Erik McCarty, safety (Injured/re-hab, may be eligible of medical RS year)
Ashton Sanders, defensive lineman
Taylor Heim, defensive end/edge
Phil Picciotti, linebacker (Injured/re-hab, may be eligible of medical RS year)
Marcus Strong, defensive lineman
NOTE: NCAA rules permit players entered in the Portal to play in bowl games; however it is up to the University whether they are allowed to play or not.

Wow Bix.....what a complete list. Thanks!
To the OP's original post---
I took the gist of her question to refer to running backs that could come in and have a game like Barnes and Sawchuk did in last year's bowl game. Barnes had 117 yds rushing and Sawchuk had 100 yds.
So far, I have seen listed on another SoonerTimes thread these RB's that have entered the portal:
Marcus Major
Tawee Walker
Daylan Smothers
Remaining RB's:
Gavin Sawchuk
Jovantae Barnes
Kalib Hicks
Emeka Megwa
Braylon Colgrove
Chapman McKown
Colgrove and McKown are listed on our roster as Freshmen but not on Bixby's Redshirt list above so I don't know if those two are walk on's or what.
Colgrove is listed at 5'8 x 170 and McKown at 5'5 x 175.
Megwa did have one carry for six yards in our final game against TCU
I would expect Sawchuk/Barnes/Hicks to get the bulk of the carries in the bowl game----assuming that was what MsProudSooner was inquiring about.
Hope this helps.

I do believe Colgrove and McKown are PWO, but the only OU PWO listing I saw for 2023 is behind a paywall and I don't have access. Maybe someone else does and can confirm one way or the other.TropicalSooner wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:41 pm Wow Bix.....what a complete list. Thanks!
