I was always a big fan of wanting an early signing day, then it came. I have changed my mind and I think we are a victim of what we hoped. It seems to be a big distraction for coaches, especially when one leaves like Muleshoe in 21.
I know this is not the intent of your thread but I am wanting us to go back to the 1st Wednesday in February and have it an event of itself. Not worth its own thread but something I wanted to share.
We are not far away, at all as the OP said. The ESP this year is December 20 - 22, 2023 and National Signing Period begins February 7, 2024.
I am looking for some serious attention to both the DL and OL positions. At this point, I don't see us getting any flips, nor do I see us losing any. I think this class has more affirmations and reaffirmations than any class I can remember since I became a fan.
The one potential negative appears to have blown over like an spring storm, brief, then a memory. We have 4 so far declaring for the Portal, I suspect by the time that Exit Interviews are concluded there will be several more, but not because of the staff changes (which you can count on other schools will using against us in recruiting), but the desire to get more playing time.
It will be interesting, but (personally) hopefully much less of a rollercoaster than in the past few years.
