OU vs BYU - Pick the Score Contest
Last week was a return of the Sooner team that we all know and love. The one that has an offense that scores at will, with success both running and passing, while bringing a defense that seems to make its living with goal-line stands. The Pick the Score contest also had a winner that we all know and love: Walt became our second 2-time winner this year.
Here are the year to date winners:
Week 1: Triple Option 77-0; actual score 73-0
Week 2: Fly 38-10; actual score 28-11
Week 3: Walt 63-13, actual score 66-17
Week 4: Charliedontsurf 24-15; actual score 20-6
Week 5: KySooner 48-10, Wishbone 45-13, actual score 50-20.
Week 6: Fly 34-31; actual score 34-30
Week 7: OUBeliever56A 31-13; actual score 31-29
Week 8: OU lost - no winner
Week 9: OU lost, so I don't care who won
Week 10: Walt 56-10, actual score 59-20
This week OU returns to the oh so familiar 11am kick-off, which will actually be at 10am for the team in Provo. Shockingly, despite the Sooner conference road woes, the "experts" have us as 24 point favorites. OU's history with BYU is as bad as it can get. The Sooners are 0-2, with a forgettable bowl game at the end of the Gibbs era, and a season opener that turned sour when Bradford got hurt in 2009. This is our one chance to make amends, although we may be looking at another cold and rainy day, which could limit our offense's explosiveness. I actually got to see this BYU team up close and personal when they played TCU in Fort Worth, and on that day their offense looked horrible. While we can hope that offense is what we see in Utah, this BYU team has been much better at home, and I believe last week's game against Iowa State was their first home loss. It looks like it will be two in a row, because this Sooner team is going to do its part to make it to Arlington, if one of the conference leaders can stumble in the last 2 weeks. Sooners get their first win ever against BYU.

Given the start time, I think both teams will be a little slow.
I see it as a workman-like game rather than a blowout or a clown-show.
Sooners at 42 the children of Brigham Young, 16.
