OKLAHOMA SOONERS vs. kansas jayhawks: GAME THREAD...

Post by OU Chinaman »

...the OKLAHOMA SOONERS are unbeaten but showed a few of their warts against UCF.
Gabriel won the game again in the 4th quarter and tossed 3 TD's. The game winner to Stoops.
After 18 straight wins in the series and an all time record of dominance that's similar to Bedlam, it's hard to fathom the idea that KU could win.
Yet, been feeling a little apprehensive as kickoff approaches.
Leipold is a good coach, possibly a great one.
His chickenhawks have 2 stud RB's in Devin Neal and Daniel Hinshaw. Together they've piled up 1100 yds and 12 TD's.
Chickenhawks have the 18th ranked scoring offense in the country and the 12th best rushing game.
Leipold is 29-10-1 ATS at home in FBS play. He's 13-1-1 ATS when playing a .700 foe.
Cold rainy Saturday in Lawrence!
How much impact will that have, if any?
Would seem imperative to utilize the run game, but OU's shown an inability to rush the ball consistently.
The SOONER kicking game is uncertain at best, but punting looks to have been improved now.
Can't put my finger on it. Not sure if the nervous impulse I'm feeling is legitimate or unwarranted.
A loss on the road to kansas would be a cold slap in the face for Team 129.
(And may my personal God give me the strength to endure the pitchforks and torches of the chinamen if it transpires.)
Sawchuck showed out a little in the 4th quarter last week. Still think he could be that "big Play" back for this team.
OKLAHOMA has control of their own destiny. And seem fated to be a team of destiny.
kansas has nothing to lose. Leipold will have them prepared.
As always I hope for the shutout, as rare as they are today, and everything tells me we should pull away from the chickenhawks in the 2nd half and cover the 10 pt. spread.
kansas is 5-1 ATS the last 6 in this series with OU.
Might be another tight fit.
OKLAHOMA could blow kansas out too.
Football weather!

ROLL MACHINE, ROLL!!!

Sooners freshman safety Peyton Bowen is going through warmups, as expected. He should be available after being a bit limited last week against UCF.

——-

Tawee Walker indeed back in uniform today in Lawrence after serving a 1-game suspension

——-

Gabe Ikard saying on the pregame show that the team looks focused and loose during warmups this morning. That lines up with reports out of practice this week. We'll see if that translates positively to the game

——-

Sooners OG McKade Mettauer is a full participant in warmups. Played a few special teams snaps last week vs. UCF, we'll see if he returns to the OL

——

Doesn't look like Marcus Major made the trip for #OU. No. 24 Samuel Omosigho is here, but not Major (as far as I can see).

Sooners WR Brenen Thompson is also not here.

——

Like most weeks, #Sooners RB Jovantae Barnes looks good in warmups.

Hasn’t played since Week 3 at Tulsa

Running backs in warmups:

- Tawee Walker
- Gavin Sawchuk
- Jovantae Barnes
- Daylan Smothers

No Marcus Major

——

Based on pregame warmups, Gavin Sawchuk is the starter at running back for the #Sooners. Jovantae Barnes got the second snap.

——-

Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels looked sharp in warmups.

Will be interesting if we see him vs. the #Sooners today

Sooners are 6 of 7 on winning coin tosses with last week being the first loss. Make that 7 of 8 with the win, Sooners will defer. Kansas will open with the ball and the Sooners will open on defense.

Kansas is running lots of motion, misdirection and gimmicks on this first offensive series.
