OU M&W Cross Country Teams ready for Arturo Barrios Invitational

The Oklahoma Sooners Men's and Women's Cross Country teams are in College Station, TX today for the Arturo Barrios Invitational. The OU men will run an 8K at 8:30 a.m. and the women will run a 6K at 9:15 a.m. Oklahoma will feature seven runners on both the men's and women's sides.

Venue: Watts Cross Country Course, College Station, Texas.
OU Women Competing: Erin O'Brien, Gabi Barrera, Grace Hanson, Grace Williamson, Lily Horvath, Brooklyn James, Kel McDavid
OU Men Competing: Colin Caso, Peter Makuei, Nicholas Young, Gabe Medina, Joshua Cherry, Fernando Morales, Logan Seger

The meet includes many strong team for both the Men and the Women. The Sooners seem to be running a better this fall. Hopefully the results today will show their improvement.

Here are the results from the Arturo Barrios Invitational.

Men's 8K:

Oklahoma finished in 16th Place with 424 Points (the fewer the points the better). The average time for the 5 runners was 24:31.34.

Nicholas Young (SR) - 36th place 24:04.1
Fernando Morales (SR) - 38th place 24:04.6
Colin Caso (JR) - 90th place 24:34.1
Peter Makuei (SO) - 117th place 24:48.9
Gabe Medina (SR) - 143rd place 25:05.0
Joshua Cherry (FR) - 168th place 25:20.8
Logan Seger (SO) - 195th place 25:44.5

Other Big 12 Teams: Texas Tech finished in 10th Place with 294 points, Houston finished in 24th Place with 599 points and Baylor finished in 31st Place with 900 points.

Top 3 teams were: Tulane - 103 points, Indiana - 113 points and Incarnate Word - 118 points.

Women's 6K:

Oklahoma finished in 25th Place with 783 Points. The average time for the 5 runners was 21:59.82.

Erin O'Brien (SO) - 98th place 21:10.1
Gabi Barrera (JR) - 99th place 21:10.5
Grace Hanson (FR) - 164th place 21:57.1
Brooklyn James (SR) - 199th place 22:38.2
Grace Williamson (JR) - 223rd place 23:03.2
Lily Horvath (FR) - 224th place 23:04.2
Kel McDavid (FR) - 275th place 26:06.8

Other Big 12 Teams: Texas Tech finished in 18th Place with 493 points, Houston finished in 27th Place with 843 points and Baylor finished in 34st Place with 969 points.

Top 3 teams were: Utah Valley - 97 points, UCLA - 188 points and Boston College - 206 points.

It is very good that 12 of the runners recorded new personal records. Coach Tim Langford said, "I'm really happy and proud of the effort and performances for both the men and the women." "Any day you have 12 personal records collectively means that things are starting to click at the right time, which is what we've targeted from day one."
