Men's and Women's Tennis Teams open Fall Play this Weekend !

The Men's and Women's Tennis Teams open their Fall 2023 Schedule by participating individually in four tournament across the country this extended weekend representing the University of Oklahoma.

For the Women, the Sooner Tennis players will be playing in two locations.

1) The North Carolina State Ranked Spotlight Tournament in Cary, NC - Thursday, Sept 21st to Sunday, Sept 24th

2) The Milwaukee Classic in Milwaukee, WI - Friday, Sept 22nd to Monday, Sept 25th

For the Men, the Sooner Tennis players will play in two locations.

1) The Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco, CA - Thursday, Sept 21st to Sunday, Sept 24th

2) The US College Cup Invitational in Torreon, Mexico - Thursday, Sept 21st to Sunday, Sept 24th

I will have to wait until the Men's and Women's Tennis Team's preview article has been provided to share which players are playing where. I will check back later today to do so.

The Sooners will split between the inaugural US College Cup Invitational and the Battle in the Bay, both from Sept. 21-24.

In the Battle in the Bay, Fifth year Seniors Justin Schlaegter and Mark Mandlik will travel to San Francisco, CA.

The 64-player Battle in the Bay Tournament is regarded as one of college tennis' most competitive fall events. Both the singles and doubles champions receive a wild card onto a series of ATP Challenger or Futures tournaments along the west coast. OU will compete against Big 12 opponents, including Oklahoma State, TCU and Kansas, along with numerous other schools.
In the US College Cup, Fifth year Senior Baptiste Anselmo, Sophomore Luiz Alvarez, and Freshmen Kholo Montsi and Hank Trondson will compete in Torreón, Mexico.

The inaugural US College Cup Invitational is comprised of 32-player singles and doubles main draws along with consolation brackets for both match types.

Tournament draws for both tourneys will be provided prior to the start of competition Thursday.

In Friday's Action for the Sooner Men at the US College Cup, Fifth year Senior Baptiste Anselmo, Sophomore Luiz Alvarez, and Freshmen Kholo Montsi and Hank Trondson competed in Torreón, Mexico.

In Doubles:

Alvarez/Monsi defeated Chan/Quirijus (TCU) 6-3.
Anselmo/Trondson defeated Alonso/Swan (TCU) 6-1.

In Singles:

Anselmo WON 7-6, 6-3 over Morozov of Abilene Christian University.
Alvarez WON 6-0, 6-3 over Barranquero of ACU.
Montsi WON 6-4, 6-3 over Krnet of ACU.
Trondson WON 6-3, 6-2 over Rastrojo of ACU.

In Friday's action in the Battle in the Bay, Fifth year Seniors Justin Schlaegter and Mark Mandlik traveled to San Francisco, CA. I think I figured out that Mandlik had to opt out of playing this weekend. Ashai Harazah (FR from Japan) took Mandlik's place.)

Schlageter dropped his match 3-6, 4-6 to Brunkow of UC Santa Barbara.
Harazaki dropped his match 2-6, 4-6 to Koenig of Baylor.

I could not find that they played a doubles match, but I could have missed. i did not find anything on OU Men's Tennis at all about the Battle in the Bay results.
