OKLAHOMA SOONERS vs. Southern Mehodist Mustangs; GAME THREAD...
...THIS IS THE FIRST "GAME" OF THE SEASON!
Last week was little more than a glorified scrimmage.
SMU is 1-5-1 all time vs. OKLAHOMA. That trend should continue.
I read somewhere that SMU WON'T GET A SHARE OF THE TV REVENUE FOR 7-9 YEARS!
(Evidently, they have the wealthy donor base that will carry them until then.)
Mustangs return 16 starters, 8 on Off. & 8 on Def.
Add some experienced help from the transfer portal and should have a competitive team.
A lot will depend on true frosh qb Preston Stone, a 4 star recruit who chose SMU over Texass.
Feel like OU needs to see some pressure from their Defensive front early on
Don't want to let Stone get any confidence in his pass protection.
Think the SOONER linebackers need to help the front line with extra run support. Make the freshman beat them with his arm.
Think it's imperative as it usually is, for OKLAHOMA to run the football effectively, but especially early.
Impress the superior physicality right out of the gate.
I'm expecting a decently competitive game with SMU, but not any serious doubt about the eventual outcome.
Still the only program to ever have been given (& likely ever will be) the NCAA DEATH PENALTY!
But the Mustangs remember coming to Norman a time or two before with some pretty good teams.
30-zip SOONER Win in 1971 is one of my favorite memories, and when I knew we had a formidable team.
Maybe today's results will convince me OKLAHOMA is again!!!
ROLL MACHINE, ROLL!!!

SMU radio guy said that SMU-to-ACC deal was the biggest news in the SMU program since the death penalty. “Wealthy donors” is putting it mildly. Multiple billionaires stepped up with donations sufficient to get SMU to the equivalent of a full monetary share of an ACC football program.

Listening on the radio. Teddy sounds 100% better than he does on KREF.

...Lehman is a laid back Sports Talk host, but he comes alive as a color analyst.
