I don't think that we can assume that whoever pitches on Thursday is our #1 (whoever that may be). We have a weekend full of games, so I would expect Patty to line up the pitching staff according to matchups and readiness.

I suspect even Gasso doesn’t “know” who her #1 is. She has a returning #2 in May. A new-coming #1 from another (admittedly lower quality) program who, in Gasso’s own words, “gave us a really hard time every time we faced her”. And the #1 pitching recruit in the country, who just stymied the best hitters in the country throughout the fall session.

So who’s #1? Whoever it is late February, it probably will be different in April and May.
