#1 Oklahoma Sooner Women's Gymnastics: Nationals start Thursday!
The #1 Oklahoma Sooner Women' Gymnastics Squad led by Coach KJ Kindler is ready to defend their 2022 National Title in Ft. Worth starting on Thursday evening.
The No. 1 overall seed, Oklahoma, will compete in Thursday's Semifinal II with No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Utah and No. 9 Kentucky at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The Sooners have faced each of those three teams once this season.
Competing on the opposite side of the bracket (Semifinal I) for a shot to advance to the Four on the Floor will be No. 2 Florida, No. 6 LSU, No. 7 California and No. 14 Denver in Semifinal I on Thursday at 2 p.m. CT.
The top two teams from each session will advance to Saturday's final at 3 p.m. CT on ABC.
Here is the staff writers article for the Oklahoma Sooners trip to Nationals in Ft. Worth.

From the article:
"What an incredible ride 2023 has been for OU," head coach K.J. Kindler said. "The strength of schedule our team faced during the regular season was impactful as we began our postseason push. Our team fought through a rough start in the regional final and showed how gritty and determined they can be. I cannot say enough about the mental toughness and assertiveness they showed in those moments. Pure passion and exceptional execution when they needed it most. We are honored to have the opportunity to represent Sooner Nation in the semifinals in Fort Worth."
The greatest of good luck to the team on Thursday and Saturday!

From the afternoon session:
6. LSU 197.475
2. Florida 197.400
7. Cal 196.9125
14. Denver 196.500
Not particularly stellar scores. LSU pulls the mild upset over Florida. Florida had a ragged beam - no falls, but several balance checks.
It was really close after 2 rotations - 0.200 separated all 4 teams and Florida was in last. However, both Cal (Bars) and Denver (beam) had to count falls in the third rotation, which pretty much sewed it up for Florida and LSU.
For Florida, their superstar trinity thomas was only able to compete bars and vault - she suffered a “lower leg” injury in the regionals. She did do 9.9 plus in both events.
Let’s Go Sooners.

Thanks for the posts! I gotta get home and watch it.
I am hoping we get some 10s tonight and some sooner get some individual honors. With all of the ex-Olymplians in the field, I think it will take an awesome score to medal but we have some gymnasts that are capable of medalling
These are the top scoresfrom this afternoon
Gotta be in this rangle to medal scores .
I am thinking beam and vault are events most likely for OU to medal in

So - how will you watch tonight?
ESPN 2 will have the main call, but won’t show all OU performances. On ESPN +, you can watch the individual apparatus events - you can just watch the Sooners.
I’ll put the Deuce on the big screen and the individual apparatus on the iPad.
