Now we have a commitment from #1 SS Lexi McDaniel.
How do you feel these two match up and who would win the 2026 season SS position? (I had mentally penciled in Barker for the '25 season SS.)
I would say that I do not have enough information and have not seen any of the SS candidates "live".

I would say that Hodge has to have the edge moving into the 2025 season to play SS. But in the 2024 Class there are four SS; Barker, Milloy, Garcia and McKay. As I have said, I think Garcia is more of a 2B candidate and that McKay is more of a corner Infielder. So that leaves Hodge, Barker and Milloy. And perhaps we should not leave out McEnroe Marinas but for now NellieMac is at 3B I think. The battle will be between the 3 of them, one may move to 2B to compete with Garcia and could play there. I think Milloy is likely to move the OF if she is not the SS.

So for 2026, McDaniel arrives with a 1-year starter at SS with experience in either Hodge or Barker or Milloy. Maybe you have a 1-year starter at 2B with one of the SS that moved or Garcia or even Lilio. McDaniel will play somewhere I think as a freshman. It is a tremendous wealth of talent for the MIF positions. The two that fields the best and then hits the best will play the most.

Here is an update about Sophia Bordi, Class of 2025 recruit. A friend gave it to me. I think I have turned him into a recruit 'guru'.

I do not take this news as bad or concerning. Especially since they are addressing the issue. she just missed on time table date for her recovery. After she finishes high school ball, she will be in great hands with the OC Batbusters pitching coach this summer. Bordi will still be a top flight prospect in a year and 3 months. She has plenty of time the recover.

What kind of injury was it? I would assume that it was to her throwing arm, since she was able to play and swing the bat?

I was shared some information about Sophia Bordi yesterday.

#1 - Her elbow "tweak" is a work in progress with a slight change in her delivery that will prevent her from elbow injuries in the future. It is all about the mechanics of throwing the pitches. She will adjust and be fine.

#2 - Her most recent injury is a possible left shoulder issue from diving to catch a ball in the outfield in a game. No definite results yet, but it could impact her summer play. The OC Batbusters will be here in June to play two tourneys in the Norman area. More will be known then.

Will these ladies stick with OU? I know Arkansas (from listening to hog sports on radio) seem to be going after Parker from Pocola pretty hard.

I have heard rumors of this too, 123gone, and I hope that is all it is, is rumors. I don't know the "rules" about tampering when a girl announces her committment to a school. I hope Courtney Deifel doesn't stoop to those kinds of low tactics. I always thought she was better than that. But in general, does that sort of thing happen? Flipping a softball committment? No idea.

Please tell me that softball isn't gonna get contaminated with the NIL disease! I'm not saying that it is, but it has to be on someone's radar of bidding for the best players.

Based on her Twitter account, she’s still liking and reposting nothing but OU Softball news. I don’t think Arkansas, of all schools, would be able to lure her away. The players that commit to Patty tend to commit for different reasons than those that might commit elsewhere. They truly have a family environment at OU and are driven by competition/winning.

I have a correction to make about Riley Zache. I have thought that she was a LH hitter until just recently. A quick video highlight I saw of her showed her as a RH hitter. After checking more videos and other info, I now believe she hits RH. I think that this is a good thing. OU has so many lH hitters in the 2024 class that one less LH hitter and one more RH hitter helps a bit. Here is a recap of the 8 players in the 2024 Class and how each of them hit and throw. (Hit first, Throw second.

Barker - R / R
Garcia - L / R
Helton - L / L
Hicks - R / R
Lowry - L / L (I do not think that Lowry will bat at OU)
McKay - L / R
Milloy - L / R
R. Zache - R / R

We are going to be more left handed hitting prominent than we have been. The only worry there is running into a dominant left handed pitcher. Top 4 in the lineup this year could be 3 of 4 left handed.
