Heading into the 2nd meet of the season for the OU Cross Country team!
On the 17th, the team will be in Lubbock, TX for the Texas Tech Open
The Men will be running the 8k (Link to Course)
The men are unranked Nationally and are 15th in the Midwest Region
The Women will be running the 6k (Link to Course)
The women are unranked Nationally and are unranked Regionally as well.
OU's men team can make some serious splashes in this meet, as they can go toe to toe with Colorado and Texas Tech (both ranked in the top 15 nationally)
OU's women can do the same if they can stay close to Colorado in points (Colorado ranked #3)
OU had a very strong showing to start the season at the Mizzou XC Opener on September 1st, 2022.
Oklahoma isn't known for their Cross Country team, but a lot of hard work has been put into this program and you can start to see that there is more of a focus for that program to be better moving forward, and to really start contending nationally as we start the transition to the SEC.
Good luck to all the athletes making their way down to the Texas Tech Open! You have all of our support! #Boomer #OUDNA #LongDistanceRunning

The Oklahoma Sooners Cross Country Team performed very, very well on Saturday in Lubbock in the Texas Tech Open. The Women finished in 1st place in the 6K event with the Men finishing in 2nd place in the 8K event. Thirteen (13) teams participated in the meets.
Here is the staff writers article about the Sooners big day.

Congratulations to both teams on their excellent results. As the article noted, this is the first 1st-Place finish for the Women in the last 5 years!

Here is a post from another poster on another site about the very good weekend the Sooner Cross Country Team had in Lubbock.

I might have oversold this a little bit, but still a solid showing from Oklahoma's Cross Country team down in Lubbock, TX this weekend.
These 17 squads were at this meet:
Amarillo College
Baylor
Eastern New Mexico
Lubbcok Christian
New MexicoNew Mexico Military Institute
New Mexico State
Oklahoma
Ranger
South Plains
Sul Ross State
Texas Tech
UTEP
Texas Permian Basin
U of the Southwest
West Texas A&M
Western New Mexico
Western Texas
Oklahoma's Men's team finished 2nd with 71 points (reminder, lower score the better):

Oklahoma's Women's team finished 1st with 41 points (ran the 6k, men ran the 8k):

The men had no change in the national or regional rankings (NR/#15 in the Midwest Region)
The women had no change in the national or regional rankings (NR/ NR in the Midwest Region) | I thought they should've gotten ranked this week in the regional rankings.
Next meet for Oklahoma Cross Country is the Chili Pepper XC Festival in Fayetteville, AR on September 30th.
I will work on trying to get a team list for this meet to better prepare you guys for who we'll see in this meet.
If I had to guess, Arkansas will be there and they're always a good measuring stick for how you compare nationally.
