The Oklahoma Softball Transfer Dance Begins
Great thread title

Since the start of the portal OU has done and amazing job of raking in the elites from the portal. I guess OU has been and will continue to be top of the teams in college softball so that will probably continue

I heard on a KREF that the Wichita hitter Barnard may be interested in coming here?

Interesting. They sure sounded like it was something that was very possible. I also wonder if that is also not the same person that this tweet was referring to.

If the Michigan transfer is truly in Norman today (as indicated above and I have seen “reported” on other boards), it is truly remarkable. Until about 9:30 last night, the Sooners had to (at least mentally) be prepared to play another WCWS game today - how could Patty and staff be prepared to host a transfer recruit today?

I guess the young lady might have been watching games in OKC, with a plan to visit OU the day after it ended?

If you remember, Hope Trautwein was in Norman on the same Friday last year. Right before Patty went to here son's wedding.

Found this on another board. It is more support for Barnard being the potential big get:

No, not officially but rumor is she was “visiting” last night and all indications are that she’ll be hitting the portal and according to Steely she’s likely to be a Sooner.

With a name like that, he has to be legit. :D

I hope we get her but I am also sad how this portal is killing small schools. WSU with her and North Texas was impacted this year at our benefit. Just seems kind of 'dirty' for lack of a better word.

I'm thinking they probably have some shiny things to show her, including one brand new one. No wonder it's her first stop.

Well, if USC can call a certain coach for the 1st time (cough, cough) after he loses the rivalry game and get him to commit without a visit. Then I am sure Patti can win a National Championship the night before and have a staff prepared to host a visit. At least she wants to meet the player to determine if she fits Oklahoma.

Dumb question....
when a person takes a visit like this, do they ever interact with the current team members? or is the visit restricted to the coachiing staff only?
Was just wondering since I'm sure all the players are still on campus.

:ou: To my knowlege players are not prohibted to have contact with a prospective recruit. It seems like players in the past haved indicated they met curtent players on thier visits. Its a good recriting tool to let the prospective recruit firm some beginning bonds of a friendship when they visit.
With, todays social medial theres a good chance the players have already interacted before the potential recruit/ transfer steps on campus
