The Women's Big 12 Basketball Pre-Season play has been completed, so to say. what remains is a hotly contested conference schedule that starts this weekend. The Pre-Season records for each team is below.

The Big 12 Women has 3 ranked teams, Baylor 10th in both polls, Texas 12th and 13th in the two polls and Iowa State, 14th in both polls. The Oklahoma Sooners are the only other Big 12 team with votes as the Sooners are 26th and 28th in the two polls.

Kansas (9-1) and Kansas State (10-2) should not be overlooked as the probable top 6 teams in the conference through the pre-season.

The conference schedule the last 10 days has been interrupted by Covid postponements and cancellations. Since Dec 21st when the first cancellation was announced there has been 16 games scheduled by Big 12 teams. Only 8 games have been played with 50% of the games have been affected.

The first day of conference play, Sunday January 2nd, one game has already been postponed between Kansas and TCU. TCU has not played their last three games and has not played since Dec 12th when they beat Texas A&M. Only Oklahoma and Iowa State have played their complete pre-season schedule. Only OU and Baylor have played since Christmas Day or in the last week.

I think the conference play for the Big 12 Women's Basketball teams will be a difficult journey, especially in January. Key players missing key games can determine the W or L in many games.

The first Big 12 conference game for the Sooner Women is at Lubbock vs Texas Tech. Tech is 7-4 while OU is 11-1 in pre-season action. The Sooners are being led by Taylor Robertson and Madi Williams. Ana Llanusa had been strong 3rd player until her leg/knee injury in the BYU game on Dec 10th. The Sooners have received strong play also from Kelbie Washington, Nevaeh Tot, Skylar Vann, Liz Scott, Nydia Lampkin and Kennedy Tucker. Tucker has replaced Llanusa in the starting five.

In their last game, Oklahoma played without Made Williams and Nevaeh Tot who were out due to Covid protocols. The Sooners won against Wichita State despite their absences 89-67.

Per the Big 12 W BB website, i looks like the OU - Texas Tech game can be watched via ESPN+ on Sunday at 2 PM.
