OU Softball - Class of 2023 - Ella Parker - EIS Star Power!

Post by OUBeliever56A »

The softball recruiting class of 2023 for the Oklahoma Sooners has changed pretty dramatically in the last four months. Prior to the Softball NLI date in November, the Sooners had a recruiting class for 2023 (FR at OU in August of 2023) that consisted of Maya Bland, Madysen Manning and Leah McAnally. Bland was an INF/OF with power that could play multiple positions. Manning was a tall SS that had been playing the OF who was known as a great hitter and fielder. McAnally was a player out of Edmond, that could play catcher and 3rd base and hit well. All three were ranked highly with Manning a Top-10, Bland a Top-15 and McAnally a Top-30 prospect. Then changes started.
    - The first hint of change in the 2023 class was that Madysen Manning, a Louisiana resident, de-committed from the Sooners and then chose LSU for her college career.
      - The next change was that Kasidi Pickering, OF from California, committed to the Sooners. Pickering is rated #17 by Softball America and a T-#4 by Extra Innings Softball. she is a great hitter and very good defensive outfielder that will push potential returning outfielders (J Coleman, Boone and Donihoo and others) for starting playing time in the spring of 2024.
        - Then Ella Parker committed to the Sooners. Parker is a LHP/1B/OF that has a great bat, speed and is a great left arm in the circle. She is a two-way player and will impact the game with both. Parker is the #2 SA rated player and the T-#4 EIS rated player.
          - When Nellian McEnroe-Marinas (NMcM) committed to the Sooners as a SS. the class took on a 'superb-class' designation. NMcM will definitely replace whatever plan the Sooners had for Manning in the OF or INF and with her bat after her decommitment. NMcM is the #19 SA player and the #T-#5 by EIS.
            - The final change for the class was that Leah McAnally de-committed from the Sooners and committed to Boise State recently. The loss of McAnally will probably lead to the Sooners trying to recruit a catcher for the 2024 class.
              - Maya Bland (SA-#30 and EIS T-#11 recruit) has remained as Sooner commit throughout the recruiting cycle.

The final structure for now, of the 2023 Sooner Softball Class is Bland (UT), Pickering (OF), Parker (LHP/1B/OF) and McEnroe-Marinas (MIF/3B). As a group the four Top-15 or better payers will be another strong class for the Sooners.

For more information about Ella Parker, EIS generated this story for their website on Dec. 29, 2021.

The news of the Ella Parker signing closely followed the announcement of Kiersten Deal (LHP/UT) de-committing from South Carolina and committing and then signing with the Sooners as a part of the 2022 Softball Class. Announcing the committals of the two LHP in a short time frame re-enforced the OU "Lefty Pitcher U" status once again. Savannah Geurin (LHP) another lefty was also signed as a long time commitment for the Sooner in the 2022 class in November with Deal. The three very strong left handed pitchers will revive the lefty tradition for the Oklahoma Sooners after the 2022 team plays without any left-handed pitchers on the team.

wow 4 top 15 players will definitely make this a superstar class. Since we moved over here to this new server, I don’t think that we have the old rankings from the Coleman/Jennings recruiting class but if the 2023 class has more room and brings in a couple of more bodies then 2023 class might rival the Jennings/Coleman class. It is crazy to say that since some of those players aren’t mortals.

Nothing says we are ready for the SEC better than signing a class like this! They will all look even better playing in the new stadium!
