It looks like Shay Knighten has retired from playing softball and will focus on coaching with her sister at San Diego.
Big Play Shay was one of the main reasons the Sooners won back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017. Her knees reduced her play to that of a mere mortal softball player by the time she graduated. #17 was a Great Sooner!
Shay Knighten - Thanks for your career at OU!

I'm not sure there has ever been a more clutch hitter in OU history than Shay! Big hit after big hit! She's one of the great ones!
I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong!

I'll likely never forget that throw out to home plate in the first game we had with Auburn. The batter hit an absolute scorcher of a line drive to first base and Shay knocked it down, jumped on it, and threw the ball home, all in what seemed like the flash of an eye.
Shay was my favorite player during the time she played for OU. She always had (or seemed to have) a big, beautiful smile on her face. And I always loved it when the cameras showed her dad on TV. She was nothing but all class.
