Men's Tennis Hosts two Opponents this weekend: San Diego and VCU

The Oklahoma Men's Tennis Team will host two teams at the Hedington Family Tennis Center during the weekend. On Friday, the Sooners will host #14 San Diego at 6 PM. On Sunday, Virginia Commonwealth comes to Norman to play at 10 AM vs the Sooners.

The Sooners are 8-2 in the Spring matches with their two losses being to two ranked teams in Tennessee and Florida State.

The Oklahoma Men's Tennis Team picked up a big win over the #14 San Diego Toreros at Headington Family Tennis Center on Friday night as they won 4-2.

San Diego won the Double point as Oklahoma won the #1 match with Baptiste Anselmo/Alex Martinez (OU) winning quickly 6-1. Then San Diego won the #3 match and then the #2 match in a tie breaker to take the Double Point.

In the Singles, OU won the first three matches to finish at #6, #2 and #5 with Mark Mandlik (OU), Jordan Hasson, Justin Schlageter (OU) won for the Sooners. San Diego won the #4 match to make the score 3-2 OU before OU won the match with Alex Martinez (OU) winning his match in the #1 singles. Only Mandlik's match was won in 2 sets. The other five singles matches went 3 sets.

The #47 ranked Oklahoma Sooner Men's Tennis Team picked up another win, this time over a solid #33 Virginia Commonwealth squad 4-1 for two ranked wins this weekend. The play was outside on Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

The Sooners won the Double point with wins from the #2 and #3 teams. Then at #1, Baptiste Anselmo/Alex Martinez (OU) dropped their match 3-6. At #2, Mark Mandlik/Jordan Hasson (OU) won 6-3. At #1, At #3, Hank Trondson/Asahi Harazaki (OU) won 6-2 to claim the Double point for OU.

In the Singles, #47 Alex Martinez (OU), playing in the #1 spot, picked up the first singles point with a 6-0, 6-1 win to put OU up 2-0. Jordan Hasson (OU), paying in the #2 spot, dropped his match to VCU by the scores of 6-1, 6-4 to make the score 2-1 for OU. Mark Mandlik (OU), playing in the #6 spot, won 6-3, 7-5 to make the score 3-1 for OU. Kholo Montsi (OU), playing in the #4 spot, then won his match in 3 sets, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 to clinch the Sooner victory over VCU.
