Sooner Baseball wins over Wichita State 5-3! Record is now 6-5.

The Oklahoma Sooner Men's Baseball Team used four runs in the 3rd thru the 5th innings to propel them to a 5-3 win over Wichita State on Wednesday Night.

In the 3rd thru the 5th innings, the Sooners scored in these ways.

Bottom of the 3rd, Carmichael flied out to CF to drive in Fredrick with a SFLY RBI to make the score 1-0.
Bottom of the 4th, Garza-Gongora grounded out to 2b for an RBI to plate Nicklaus for an unearned run to make the score 2-0.
Bottom of the 5th, Carmichael singled through the left side and advanced to second on the throw as Mackenzie scored to make it 3-0.
Bottom of the 5th, Snyder walked on a 3-2 count as Carmichael and scored on a wild pitch for an unearned run to make it 4-0.

In the top of the 6th, Wichita State answered back in the top of the 6th with a 2-run HR to make it 4-2.
In the bottom of the 7th, Carmichael picked up his second hit on a solo HR to make the score 5-2.
Wichita State closed out the scoring in the top of the 9th with a solo HR by Livingston.

In the circle for the Sooners. eight (8) pitchers took the mound and limited Wichita State to 9 hits with 2 walks and 6 Ks and those 3 runs. Carsten got the Sooners off to a good start allowing 0 runs in the first three innings allowing just 1 hit and picking up 1 K. Stevens got credited with the win as he pitched the next 2.2 innings and allowed 4 hits, 1 walk and 1 run with 2 Ks. Six other Sooners got the team to the finish line with Malachi Witherspoon got the save pitching the final inning despite giving up the solo HR and picking up 1 K.

The win upped the Sooners record to 6-5 on the season.

The Sooners will host Central Florida this weekend for 3 games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at L Dale Mitchell Park in the first conference series of the year for the Sooners. UCF is 8-1 on the young season. They play at #4 Florida tonight before heading to Norman. UCF holds a #8 ranking in the RPI for D1 Baseball while OU is at #79.
