First Place Sooner Women's BB host TCU on Wednesday Night @ LNC

Post by OUBeliever56A »

The Oklahoma Sooner Women's Basketball Team, the 1st Place OU Women, will host TCU on Wednesday night in a 6 PM game at LNC. Oklahoma is 9-1 in the Big 12 conference and 15-6 overall. TCU is 2-8 in conference and 15-6 overall. TCU has had numerous injuries this season and had to forfeit two Big 12 games as they were down to 5 or 6 players at one point. Oklahoma's NET ranking is up to #38 while TCU's NET is #42. OU is ranked once again at #24 in the AP poll this week.

TCU started the season with 13 straight non-conference wins and then won their opening Big 12 game with a win over BYU. Then the injuries started. They have no only won 1 game in their last 7 games played. They are 2-6 in games played and 2-8 with the two forfeits. Perhaps one of their two best players returns soon. That player is the 6'7" Prince. Before her injury she was averaging 21.2 PPG and 10.6 rebounds. She broke her ring finger on her shooting hand in early January. She is due back at any time and will be back before the end of the season for sure.

Without Prince, Owens, Conner and Turner, TCU is starting a new group of players. The five starters range from 5'7" to 6'2" and three of them has only had 12 starts this season. Emma-Nnopu (5'11") nd Jovanovic (5'9") are two guards that are holdovers from the original 5 starters. They are averaging 26 PPG combined in their last three games. The 3 new starters are Flores (5'7"), Mamumaleuga (5'10") and Roberson (6'2"). They score 27 PPG. The five starters play most of the game as they only have played 2 players any real minutes as subs. Harris (6'1") is averaging 15 PPG off the bench. The TCU Horned Frogs are shooting a fair amount of three's their last three games and almost all of the players are shooting them.

TCU will score in the 60-70 point range probably. They still have 6 quality players to send out on the court. But if somehow, Prince shows up, it changes about everything for TCU.

For OU it is the same game that will provide a win. Take care of the ball first. Play at a fast pace when they can. Shoot well, and well enough from 3-point range. Rebound the ball have some fun while you are playing. If Sahara Williams could begin to play consistently for the Sooners it would be a big help. Maybe she can build on her very good second half against OSU and take that forward to Wednesday night.

Good luck to the Sooners on Wednesday night.
