Here are the Big 12 Standings and Rankings as of January 9th. Play was split for the mid-week games with 5 games on Tuesday and 2 games on Wednesday. there was a huge upset on Tuesday night!

Houston at Iowa State - 6 PM ESPN+ ---> I wonder if Houston has ever traveled to Ames to play a basketball game. But Kelvin Sampson has when he was coach at OU. Iowa State won't give a win to Houston but I think Houston can manage the trip with their talent. An upset by the Cyclones would be the headline in M BB on Wednesday. Well, here is the headline! Iowa State upset Houston 57 to 53. Iowa State led a half time 31-21. Houston battled back with a 32-25 advantage in the second half. The score was tied at 53-53 with 58 seconds left. I-State scored the last 4 points of the game (all by Momcilovic, freshman) as Houston missed two three's in their last 2 possessions.

BYU at Baylor - 8 PM ESPN+ ---> BYU will be looking to rebound after losing to Cincy with a poor 2nd half at home. Baylor is tough though in Waco. This game should be very good and perhaps one of the three best games on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Big 12. Houston at Iowa State and OU at TCU are the other two. Baylor won 81-72 after BYU led at halftime by 6 points. Baylor scored 18 points off of BYU turnovers as they had 5 players who scored in double digits.

Texas at Cincinnati - 6 PM ESPN+ ---> After a loss, Texas has to travel to Cincy to play on the road against a team that scored 47 points at BYU in the 2nd half of Saturday's game. Texas picked up a big win on the road, Texas 74 Cincy 73. Texas trailed 70-73 inside a minute. Disu scored for Texas with 43 seconds left to make it 72-73. Texas fouled Cincy three times to put the Bearcats at the free throw line with a 1 and 1. Cincy missed. Texas' Ambus scored on a jumper with 8 seconds left to give the Longhorns the game 74-73. Disu scored 33 for Texas with Ambus adding 15.

Oklahoma State at Texas Tech - 7 PM ESPN+ ---> Tech needs to keep their head on straight after their win over Texas on Saturday. OSU would like to surprise Tech after dropping a game in overtime to a tough Baylor squad. It will be interesting to see who wins this game. Texas Tech won easily over OSU by the score of 90-73. Tech won the 1st half 40-31 and then won the 2nd half also 50-42. Tech had five players score in double digits.

Kansas State at West Virginia - 6 PM ESPN+ ---> Kansas State should be 2-0 after Tuesday night. Kansas State won over West Virginia 81-67 after only leading by 2 points at the half. K-State ran away from WV 41 to 25 in the second half.

Mid-Week Schedule for big 12 Men BB: Wednesday Jan 10th:

Kansas at UCF - 6 PM ESPN+ ---> I am confident that Kansas will be 2-0 after this game. But both Purdue #1 and Houston #2 were both defeated on Tuesday night.

Oklahoma at TCU - 8 PM on ESPN2 ---> The Horned Frogs will want to rebound quickly from their bid to upset the Jayhawks on the road. Coach Moser has not won at TCU yet in his first two years. Now would be a good time to do something new with his best team yet at OU. This is also the first time in those two years that they playe dthe first game on the road at TCU while going 2-2 vs the Horned Frogs. This season, the Sooners play TCU just once. This is the rubber game for Coach Moser and the Sooners.
