Congratulations to Alexis Shelton - All Big 12 V-Ball 2nd Team !

This is a belated post and congratulations for Alexis Shelton, OH, for the Oklahoma Women's Volleyball Team for her selection as a 2nd Team Big 12 Volleyball player for her 2023 season. Shelton was the primary offensive player for the Sooners this year as a Sophomore for the Sooners. As a player, she stands out on the court in every match with her power and play.

It is hard for me to understand how she ends up on the 2nd Team, which is an honor, instead of the 1st Team.

- Shelton was 4th in the Big 12 in Kills with 400 for the season and 4.26 Kills/Set
- Shelton was 5th in the Big 12 in Points with 439.5 for the season and 4.68 Pts/Set (4th in the Big 12)
- Shelton's 30 total kills against Notre Dame were the third-highest output among Big 12 athletes.
- In 25 matches played, Shelton tallied 20-plus kills on eight occasions and double-digit kills in 21 of 25 matches.
- Shelton's second-team honor is the second of her career after being named to the Big 12 All-Rookie team in 2022.
- Shelton recorded two double-doubles on the year, finishing the season with 97 digs. She posted 55 total blocks, ranking second on the team. Shelton also notched seven service aces.

There were 9 OH in the Big 12 voted onto the 1st team for the Big 12. I am not sure how you leave out a player who was the 4th or 5th best attacker as an OH basd upon Kills and Points. the only thing that might have held Shelton off of the 1st team might have been her Hitting% with a .250 % which was outsid ethe Top 10 in that stat. But a .250 Hitting% is still very respectable.

In looking at the Big 12 leaders, two other Sooners made the top 10.
- Payton Chamberlain (Setter) was second in the Big 12 in Assists/Set with 10.50 assist/set.
- Callie Kemohah (Libero) was 8th in the Big 12 in Digs/set with 3.59 Digs/set.
