I never have understood the lop-sidedness of that game. In 2002 they beat us 30-26 and in 2004 we beat them 42-35. 2003 was Franchione's first year and they weren't very good that season, but man, they couldn't do anything that game.
All that is gold does not glitter.
Not all those who wander are lost.
The old that is strong does not wither.
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

After the 2020 whooping we took in the Cotton, I think I have an inkling as to just how they (the aggie fans) felt.

Edit: I'm surprised nobody called me on this post......it was 2022 not 2020 that :horns: kicked our butt! Sorry 'bout the brain fart.

It would have been worse, but for:

A continuous clock was used on November 8, 2003 beginning in the 3rd quarter when the Oklahoma Sooners opened up with a 49-0 halftime lead against the Texas A&M Aggies. This was agreed upon by the two coaches and the game ended with the Sooners winning 77-0.

I just checked it and the clock did run (almost) continuously in the 4th quarter, but not before.

Since both teams wanted out of there in the 4th quarter (and before) it didn't make a huge difference. OU threw zero passes and had zero plays go out of bounds in the 4th. We had zero plays go out of bounds, only threw one pass, and had one punt.

The pass from Long was incomplete with 4:38 to go and the clock stopped shortly, then was running before the next snap for a loss of about 32 seconds. Two plays later we punted. When OU snapped it for their first down following the punt, the clock was about 29 seconds off from where it should have been.

So the clock stopped once in the 4th quarter for injury, once for flag, and twice for first downs until the ball was spotted (one coincided with the stoppage for penalty). The clock was not stopped for one other first down or for the two plays mentioned above, so the game was probably 65 or 70 seconds shorter than it should have been.
