Women's and Men's Tennis - Notes about ITA Play by Sooners

On Friday, some of the Sooner Men's Tennis Team started play in the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge in Dallas.

I found the tournament site, but there are no match results that I can find, despite trying.

Here is what the OU Men's Tennis posted about the play at the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge

In Doubles play, Hank Trondson & Asahi Harazaki picked up a win over SMU's Stafford/Sunkel, 6-2, in their first match of the day!
In their second win of the day, Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki took down Wells/Chen of BYU, 6-1!

In singles, Hank Trondson defeated BYU's Brian Chen, 6-2, 6-4!
Sooners start the weekend off 4-0!, Asahi Harazaki takes down BYU's Jack Barnett, 7-6(8), 6-1!

In the 2023 ITA Fall Nationals in San Diego, the Sooner Doubles Team of Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina (#4 Seed) continued their winning ways as they defeated Piper and Fry of USC on Friday afternoon at 2 PM in the Quarterfinals of the Fall Nationals. Guzman and Shcherbinina won over Piper/Fry by the scores of 6-2, 6-2.

The Sooners are now in the Semi-Finals on Saturday. The ITA site is not updated as of now. I do not know who Guzman/Shcherbinina will play between Scotty / Brantmeier and Komac / Sayfetdinova.

Congrats to the Guzman/Shcherbinina.

For the Norman Women's ITA Tourney, I found these results for Friday's play:

Singles - Main Draw:

USA - Straker plays Bowers in the Quarterfinals at 10 AM. Straker dropped her singles match by the scores of 0-6, 2-6.

Doubles - Main Draw:

Friday, in the Semi-Finals the two Doubles Teams from OU played each other. It was Cisovska - Straker against Garcia-Ruiz - Safarova. The winners were Cisovska - Straker by the very close scores of 3-6, 7-5 and 10-6 in the Tie-Breaker.

In the Finals on Saturday, Cisovska and Straker will play SLO-Novak and ARG-Peyre before 1 PM on Saturday.

On Saturday they played Scotty / Brantmeier (North Carolina) who were the #1 Seed and the #2 ranked doubles team in the country. n

Unfortunately, the Sooners dropped their match by the scores of 6-7 (2) and 3-6. That ended an 18-staight match streak of winning this fall.

In singles, Hank Trondson defeated He Rice's Petro Kuzmenok, 7-6 (5), 1-6, 10-6 in the Tie-Breaker!

Asahi Harazaki defeated Rice's Santiago Navarro, 7-5, 6-1!
