Sooner Men and Women Cross-Country Teams in Chili Pepper Today!

Post by OUBeliever56A »

The Oklahoma Men and Women Cross Country Teams will compete today in the Chili Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Women's starting pistol will fire at 4:30 PM while the Men's starting pistol will fire at 5 PM. The Women will run 5K and the Men will run 8K.

Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the Cross Country meet.

For the Sooners, these runners will be competing.

OU Women Competing: Erin O'Brien, Gabi Barrera, Brooklyn James, Grace Williamson, Grace Hanson, Kel McDavid, Lily Horvath, Tarryn Lowry, Allie Lyda
OU Men Competing: Colin Caso, Nick Young, Peter Makuei, Gabe Medina, Fernando Morales, Logan Seger, Josh Cherry

In their first two meets of the fall, the Sooner Men have finished 4th and 3rd. The Women have finished 5th and 3rd. I think today with 31 men and 35 women teams competing the competition will be ramped up for both teams. Hopefully a Top 10 finish for both teams can be achieved.

Good luck to both squads today.

Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the results of the Chile Pepper XC Festival Cross Country meet in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday.

With a 5th place finish, the Men's team had a strong finish, Nicholas,, Morales, Medina, Caso ran pretty well.

MEN'S 8K – 5th – 235 points
17th - Nicholas Young – 24:45.2
29th - Fernando Morales – 25:00.6 - personal best time, I think.
44th - Gabe Medina – 25:19.7
61st - Colin Caso – 25:33.1
84th - Peter Makuei – 25:59.0
126th - Josh Cherry – 26:39.4
149th - Logan Seger – 26:59.4

I wonder if the 21st Place finish is a bit disappointing by the Sooner Women. Barrera has taken a step forward this season.

WOMEN'S 5K – 21st – 568 points
25th - Gabi Barrera – 17:54.8
98th - Grace Hanson – 18:49.8
102nd - Erin O'Brien – 18:53.8
164th - Lily Horvath – 19:37.4
179th - Grace Williamson – 19:54.7
212th - Kel McDavid – 21:16.7
223rd - Brooklyn James – 23:01.4
293rd - Tarryn Lowry – 23:43.9

Congrats to the Sooner runners!
