The play in the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup completed yesterday with Team USA winning the Gold Medal over France 22-16.
The 3x3 play is a bit different as each bucket from the outside of the arc is worth 2 points and each bucket inside the arc is worth 1 point. Games are played with the first team to 21 winning or the team ahead at the end of play. It is much like the half-court playground basketball that is played.
The 2023 3x3 U18 National Team included Katie Fiso, Sarah Strong, Mikaylah Williams and Oklahoma's Williams. Kelly Carruthers, an assistant coach on last summer's 3x3 World Cup team that Williams played on, will lead the team as head coach.
Team USA played 7 games and won each game. Mikaylah Williams, LSU, scored 54 points in the 7 games with Sarah Strong (24 Grad) scoring 46, Sahara Williams (Oklahoma) scoring 27 and Katie Fiso (Oregon) scoring 19.
