T9th - Texas Tech - 2-10 in conf - 13-12 overall - NET ranking of #70

In action on Saturday:

- Texas beat West Virginia by 34, 94-60 in Austin.
- Kansas won on the road in LNC beating OU by 23, 78-65.
- Baylor beat TCU on the road by 4, 72-68.
- Oklahoma State upset Iowa State in Ames 64-56.
- Texas Tech upset Kansas State in Lubbock 71-63.

In Mid-Week action this week are these games:

Monday:
Texas at Texas Tech - 8 PM on ESPN - Can Tech step up and surprise Texas? I hope so. Tech has a couple of bigs to cause trouble against Texas. But I will take Texas to win.
West Virginia at Baylor - 8 PM on ESPN2 - Is it possible that WV rebounds after a big loss to Texas to surprise Baylor? I doubt it. Baylor should win this as they seem to be getting better.

Tuesday:
Kansas at Oklahoma State - 8 PM ESPN(2) - Oklahoma State finds themselves in the hunt in the Big 12. A win over Kansas in Stillwater could be a BIG WIN. to throw things in the Big 12 topsy-turvy, I pick OSU to win.

Kansas State at Oklahoma - 8 PM ESPN(U) - Kansas State lost at Tech last time out. OU played poorly at home against Kansas. Both teams need to rebound. I think OU might match up well against K-State. I will chose OU in this game to win.

Wednesday:
TCU at Iowa State - 8 PM - ESPNU - Iowa State and TCU both need wins in this game. I think Iowa State get s it done and wins. But a win by TCU jumbles things a bit more in the Big 12. I think I side with Iowa State on this one.

In the Men's action last night, Monday. Texas Tech held home court in Lubbock and defeated Texas 74-71. Harmon (ex-OU player) and Obanor scored 25 and 19 points to lead the Red Raiders over Texas.

In the other game, Baylor defeated West Virginia in Waco 79-67.

The two teams, Texas and Baylor are now tied for 1st Place with a 9-4 record. Kansas can join them in that tie with a win tonight in Stillwater against OSU.

One other note about the Texas Tech win. The win lifts Tech one-half game ahead of Oklahoma for 9th place. OU will need to defeat Kansas State tonight in LNC to remain tied with Texas Tech for 9th place. This is important because the 10th place team in the Big 12 has to play the 7th place team in the first early round of the Big 12 Tourney. That will be the toughest route to success in the tourney.

Two games were played on Tuesday night.

Kansas defeated OSU in Stillwater 87-76 to keep the Jayhawks in a first place tie with Texas and Baylor at 9-4.

As noted in other threads, the Sooners also defeated Kansas State last night by 14, 79-65. The K-State loss dropped them into a tie with OSU with both teams being 7-6 in conference.

Tonight's game (Wed), TCU at Iowa State could produce a 4-way tie at 7-6 for 4th place in the conference if TCU is able to defeat I-State in Ames. If Iowa State wins, they will be in 3rd al by themselves at 8-5 and TCU will drop to 7th at 6-7.
