Well it looks like Patty got what she was looking for as the season begins. She wanted to see the team tested and learn from playing close games with tough competition. The Sooners could have ended the weekend 3 wins and 2 losses instead of 5-0. Thankfully the team continued to grind and won them all.
Parity has come to D1 Softball as evidenced by the tough play and excellent coaching we see this year. More and more upsets are happening as we saw this past weekend. Patty knows this and will not let our team get complacent. OU has plenty to work on at practice this week.
A couple of observations:
Nicole May should be nicknamed Houdini after escaping a probable tying or go ahead run(s) in the 7th inning against Washington. She seems to thrive in clutch situations. WOW!
It was great to see every eligible position player get in the San Jose State game. Yes, the bench is deep which bodes well for the long season ahead. Grace Green is the bench MVP and no longer secret weapon.
Go Sooners!!!
