Eight Sooners tabbed to Player of the Year Watch List

Post by OUBeliever56A »

Here is the article about the Top 50 Watchlist for the Player of the Year for D1 Softball.

Here are some additional notes about the Watchlist.

As Mr. Helmer's article said, OU has 8 players included in the list.

Jennings, Bahl, Lyons, Coleman, Sanders, Lee, Storako and Hansen are well deserving.

The selection of eight (8) Sooners is very consistent with the 3 preseason rankings of the Top 100 players for the 2023 season. All eight of the Sooners were selected within the Top 50 players in each poll. 7 Sooners were selected in three of the rankings. For some reason, Extra Innings softball left Kinzie Hansen off of their list of Top 100 players. HMMMM.

Two other teams had three (3) players selected for the Watchlist.

UCLA had Faraimo, Brady and Palacious selected. Florida had Wallace, Falby and Echols selected.

Eleven Teams had two (2) players selected.

Wichita State, Northwestern, Florida State, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma State and LSU.

Of those thirteen teams, Oklahoma plays UCLA, Wichita State (McKinney and Barnard), NW (Williams and Rudd), FSU (Sandercock and Leonard), OSU, 3 times with Maxwell and Becker) and LSU (Briggs and Pleasants).

Oklahoma also plays four other teams with P-O-T-Y players.

Washington with Klingler, Stanford with Vawter, Auburn with Penta, Texas, 3 times with Scott.

The Sooners will play 14 games against P-O-T-Y candidates. And the Sooners will have a huge advantage in each one.
