OU vs UCF Game One
Here we go....Gameday!!
We have our line-ups set now for the playoffs....so who do you like for the Sooner's starting pitcher today?
I'm going to cast my vote for Nicole May. I'm assuming that Bahl is coming along fine-probably better than expected, because that's just who she is. But I'm not so sure that she throws first pitch today--which leaves May and Trautwein. Normally I would be inclined to give the ball to Hope, but I'm going with Nic today for the reason I think she is a much better fielder than Hope and we will need her to defend against UCF's small ball short game, and I just trust her defending ability much better. If Bahl, is indeed well enough to pitch, give her some time after we've built up a run-rule lead -- let her throw an inning or two then. If she can maintain her control and has all her pitches working, then look out! Here we come!

I agree with starting May because UFC has used the small ball a lot in the games I've watched. If May and Trautwein limit the free passes and get good run support and build a good lead, would it be a good idea to give Bahl till next week to heal further even if she feels good enough to get in this weekends games? If she is feeling good enough to throw now it could be she's not used unless the wheels fall off then use her.

Coleman gets a clutch 2 out double with the bases loaded that scores 2 runs. Alo follows with a bomb.
Sooners take command 6-0 in the bottom of the Second.

I love watching Alo. Takes me back to the Maris and Mantle years hammering home runs nearly at will. 1961 I think.
I can't believe they didn't walk her with first base open and a 2-0 count.

I'm surprised as well. I hate to complain but the umpire has been really inconsistent with his strike zone. I thought it was gonna cost us but Coleman Alo baled us out. Sooner's defense has been awesome so far!

Yelp, I saw the same thing. UCF pitcher threw one clearly outside for a strike. Put it in the same place on one of the next pitches for a called ball. UCF pitcher looked at him like "what!".

Tough ump call on a ball to left field creates base running confusion. Some base runners thought the ball was caught, some thought it fell. Ump needs to clearly make a decisive call. Not clear to me if they made a timely decision on the play.
I'm really confused on what PG challenged on that call, I didn't see anyone called out in the first place unless I missed it.

Hansen pinch hits for Snow and hit a sacrifice fly to deep center to plate the 7th run. Johns doubles to plate the 8th run. Grace Green hits one to deep left but comes up 2ft short for the 3rd out.
8-0 sooners headed to the 4th.

I wonder the same thing but not being privy to the conversation she was having with the ump and given the announcing crew was as clueless as I was, they may have called multiple outs and Patty had to appeal to get it back to one. As a crew, I don't think the umps were on the same page.

Sooners take game one 8-0 in 4.5 innings.
Trautwein pitches a no-hitter but 3 walks and a hit batter take a bit of shine off of that.
Sooner bats were very good today and defense was very solid.
Good win!

Since the bottom of the 5th hasn't taken place, technically fans could stay and celebrate until the start of tomorrow's game but I'm sure there are cheaper places to do that.
