OU vs texas - game 3

So far through 5 innings, our batters look lost in the sauce against Dolcini.

The horns get an unearned run in the bottom of the 5th.

The PRE-vent mentality reared its ugly head. Thanks to that football coach from Muleshoe for the legacy! Patty will forever be grateful for his contribution to Sooner sports.

why was the horn batter not out for stepping on the plate while hitting the ball?score should have 2-1 OU going into bottom of 7.

Critical defensive lapses combined with poor hitting result in loss #1. I won't try to pump any sunshine after this loss, but it's been a long time coming and I'll try not to overreact. I'd rather win the last 20 than the first 40!

I hope we have learned a BIG lesson about complacency and PRE-vent mentality. ie, you MUST play your best, and always respect your opponent.

Can stepping out of the batter's box be reviewed?
If so, why didn't coach Gasso ask for a replay?

It should be. Not because of Saturday's game, but because it happens so quick and is partially hidden from the Umpire's view. And obviously too far away for the other officials on the field to see clearly when it occurs.

For future reference, here's the list of what the NCAA has agreed are reviewable plays in 2022:

I was very excited to bring replay to softball. However, the results have been disappointing. There simply aren’t enough cameras with high enough resolution to make an impact on most of the plays that I have seen reviewed.

I hope it will be better for supers and World Series, when it really matters. But for the regular season, in most of the parks, replay just isn’t going to be a big benefit. JMHO.

As we bemoan our performance against Texas, I note that Texas is currently in the range of a potential 16 seed in the tourney, which could be a Super-regional matchup.

Lot of softball left to be played tho.
