The Oklahoma Sooners did not have their best day at all in the first round of the Big 12 Women's Tournament in Hockley, Texas at the Hosuton Oaks Country Club. The scores were overall high on the day as the 1st Place team is Texas at 2-over par, 286. Only five players shot under par for the day with the individual leader at 2-under par.

For Oklahoma the Sooners carded a 1-over par, 72 by Savannah Barber. She had 4 bogeys and 3 birdies as she shot 1-over on the front and Even on the back. Reagan Chaney shot a 73, 2-over par with a 3-over front and a 1-under back nine. She had 2 doubles, 3 bogeys and 5 birdies on the day. Barber is just outside the Top 10 in a tie for 12th. Chaney is in a tie for 17th.

The back nine really hurt the next two Sooners. Isabella Schlick was 1-over on the front nine but 6-over on the back for a 7-over round at 78. Holly McLean was 2-over on the front and 5-over on the back for another 7-over round at 78. Those four scores gave OU a 17-over par score of 301 for the day. The Sooners are in a tie for 10th place after the first day.

The 5th member of the Sooners, Gracie Mayo, shot an 84 (13-over par) but really did a great job of regaining her form on the back nine with a 2-over par side. Her front nine was an adventure though as she shot 11-over par on the side.

The tee times are not posted yet for tomorrow's round. It looks like OU and OSU may be paired to play together tomorrow which might spur good scores in a mini-Bedlam matchup. With the scores today, if the Sooners can be no more than 20-over after tomorrow for the two days, they might be somewhat back in the tournament and perhaps could be in the Top 8 teams after tomorrow.

Good luck to the Sooner Women tomorrow.

The order for OU will be Mayo, McLean, Schlick, Chaney and Barber.

After their 3-over round as a team on Friday, the Sooner Women's Golf Team looked like they could finish strong and move up in the standings from their T7th Place position. The Sooners also had two individual players in contention for Top 5 finishes with Reagan Chaney and Savannah Barber. But not of that unfolded as the final round played out for the Sooners.

The Sooners shot 10-over for the day with a 294 score to give them a final score of 30-over par 882 and a Tie in 10th Place with TCU.

In the individual competition, Reagan Chaney shot a 3rd good round of 1-over par for a 1-over 214 score for the 54 holes. She finished in a Tie for 8th Place. Two Iowa State golfers shot 6-under for the Tournament at 207. Chaney earned All-Big 12 Tournament Team honors for her 8th Place finish. Congrats to her!

Savannah Barber shot a 3-over par round of 74 for a 54-hole total of +4 and a finish in a Tie for 17th. Isabella Schlick shot a 75 on Saturday for an 11-over total and a tie for37th Place. Holly McLean shot a nice 2-over par round to give herself a 14-over total 227 and a Tie for 45th Place. Gracie Mayo shot her weekend best round of 6-over par for a 239 total of 26-over par and a 61st Place finish.

Up next perhaps for the Sooner Women is perhaps the NCAA Regionals. The NCAA Tournament Regional selections will be announced on Wednesday, April 24, at 1 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel. I am not sure whether the team will receive a bid to the Regionals or not.
