The Oklahoma Sooners are set to host around 100 recruits this weekend for the 2024 spring game. That provides them an opportunity to show off the program for prospects over the next few recruiting cycles.
As spring ball comes to a close, the Sooners will begin to turn up the heat on the 2025 recruiting class. The Sooners sit No. 6 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings at the moment, hoping to secure Brent Venable’s fourth-consecutive top-10 recruiting class.
A player that the Sooners are heavily pursuing is Weatherford, Okla. native, C.J. Nickson. Nickson is a 6-foot-5 edge rusher with great athleticism, who stars in both football and basketball. In addition to his Oklahoma offer, he holds offers from some of the best Power Four programs across the country.
On Friday, Chad Simmons of On3 issued a prediction favoring the Sooners in his recruitment. Nickson holds notable offers from Auburn, Oklahoma State, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Tennessee. And it looks like Oklahoma is in a very favorable position for 247Sports No. 1 player in the state and top 50 player overall.
Though there’s a long way to go in the cycle, the Sooners have put themselves in a favorable position as spring gives way to summer.
