The Oklahoma Sooner Baseball Team won over BYU in Provo for the second time in two games as they parlayed a 7 run 4th inning into a 12-6 win. The sooner offense was the key as they picked up 14 hits and 5 walks with a HBP to score 12 runs with 5 doubles and 3 HRs. The Sooner pitching did their job as well as they limited BYU to 6 runs with the runs spread across four innings and did not allow more than 2 runs in an inning.

The first 5 hitters in the Sooner lineup (Walk, Madron, Carmichael, Snyder, Mackenzie) had 11 hits and 1 walk in 22 at bats with 9 RBIs and 8 runs with 5 doubles and 3 HRs. That is a pretty good day for the first five hitters in the lineups. The bottom four hitters added 3 hits, 2 RBIs, 4 runs and 1 RBIs with 3 walks. (Pettis, Willits, Mudler and Lane)

In the 7th inning, the Sooners sent 9 hitters to the plate with 6 hits (3 doubles and a HR) with a walk, a HBP and a wild pitch to score 7 runs. After BYU scored in the 7th to make the score 8 to 6, Oklahoma scored 3 runs in the top of the 8th on 5 hits (1 double) and a SFLY.

On the mound the Sooners got a solid start by Kyson Witherspoon as he pitched 5 innings allowing 3 run on 7 hits and just one walk and 6 Ks. The three runs against Witherspoon were off of a solo HR in the 1st and a 2-RBI triple in the 4th. Carter Campbell entered in the bottom of the 6th and gave up his own solo HR in the 6th, then control problems allowed 2 runs to score with Dylan Crooks finishing the inning for the Sooners and then pitching a scoreless 8th. Ryan Lambert pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth to finish the game.

This next stretch of games will be very important for OU. They have the opportunity to virtually lock up the Big 12 championship & solidify their chances of hosting a Regional &/or Super Regional.
