I guess sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

Anytime a team makes 7 errors and gives up 5 runs, you simply count yourself as being very fortunate that you win the game and simply close the book, smile and move on to the next game. The fact that OU could manage to win the game 7-5 is actually fairly amazing. OU gave up 11 baserunners plus the errors and only allowing 5 to score while leaving 13 runners on base. The pitchers must have been very tough, when they needed to be with runners on the bases.

On offense the Sooners left a few runners also with 17 baserunners plus maybe one on a errors and 11 left on base as they scored 7 runs. The Sooners had 2 doubles (Snyder, Pettis), 2 triples (Carmichael, Nicklaus) and a HR (Willits). The 14 hits had to be instrumental in the win for the Sooners as they just kept coming back and scoring.

On the mound, Kyson Witherspoon did not pitch badly, but the 6 walks was an issue perhaps. He gave up 4 runs but none of them were earned. He allowed jut 2 hits and had 6 strikeouts. Carter Campbell followed him with 3 strong innings of no-hit ball with just one walk. Campbell was awarded the win for his effort. Dylan Crooks was the 3rd reliever as he pitched the 8th and then ran into trouble in the 9th. Malachi Witherspoon finished it off for the Sooners coming into the final inning and earning the save. Again, the run that Crooks allowed was unearned.

Today on Friday, Oklahoma gets to watch the game played before theirs to see who they play. Yesterday, TCU defeated Kansas State 9 to 4. At 9AM, this morning, TCU now plays Kansas to see who moves forward and plays a DH with their next game being the Sooners.

In the other half of the bracket in Arlington, Texas Tech defeated Cincinnati 10-5. Then in the winner's side, UCF defeated Oklahoma State 7-6 in 10 innings. Today at 4 PM, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State plays with the winner advancing to play UCF at 7:30 PM.

Good luck to the Sooners as they play today at 12:30 PM in the Semi-Finals of the Big 12 Tourney. It could be a day with two starters pitching of the Girton, Stevens and maybe Hitt throwing 3 or 4 innings each to save the bullpen. But there is no tomorrow for the Sooners without a win. All pitchers are on deck except for Davis and K. Witherspoon and maybe Campbell. If the Sooners get the offense started early, it could make the pitching decisions easier.
