Friday - Day One Update:

The Oklahoma track and field team wrapped up the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center Friday night. All five OU athletes secured top-six finishes in their respective events to earn First Team All-America honors and the women's team concluded day one in second place.

The women posted 19 points during the first session of the championships, collecting scores from Pippi Lotta Enok (6), Olivia Lueking (6), Angel Richmore (4) and Jasmine Akins (3). Nikaoli Williams finished second in the men's long jump for eight points, helping the men climb to 10th.

Enok sat in second place with 1,944 points and Richmore sixth with 1,883 points heading into the shot put. To wrap up the pentathlon, Enok raced to 2:17.84 and 853 points in the 800-meter run, securing third place overall with final score of 4,375. Richmore posted 773 points with a 2:23.74 time for fifth place and a total of 4,310 points. Enok claimed the third All-America award of her career and Richmore notched her fourth.

In the midst of combined events, Olivia Lueking cemented herself as one of the greatest pole vaulters in Oklahoma history. In her final indoor meet as a Sooner, the senior confidently cleared every height, including her final mark of 4.55m (14'11.00"), to garner third place and a First Team All-America award.

Jasmine Akins kept the momentum rolling with sixth place in the women's long jump, leaping to 6.58m (21'7.25") for First Team All-American. Akins' finish is the best by a Sooner at the NCAA Indoor Championships since Ti'Anca Monk earned fourth in the event in 2011.

For the Men, Nikaoli Williams' runner-up finish in the LJ closed out the day for Oklahoma. The graduate student out of Portmore, Jamaica, posted Oklahoma's best place in the long jump at an NCAA indoor meet in at least 36 years, up there with Russell Adams' finish in 1989 and Will Claye's bronze medal in 2009.

Dwol Crowned Champion, Track Teams Impress at NCAA Indoor Championships

Oklahoma concluded a successful two days of competition Saturday night at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships inside the Virginia Beach Sports Center. Agur Dwol became OU's first triple jump champion and the Sooner Women placed fourth as a team, the best finish in program history.

For the Sooner Men, BJ Green and Kyren Washington added top-three performances to help the men's team finish 12th.

Dwol's initial mark of 13.72m (45'0.25") tied Tamiah Washington of Texas Tech. After official review, it took Dwol's third-best effort of 13.48m (44'2.75") to separate her from the Raider and she solidified the title with a centimeter difference. Dwol became OU's first national champion in the triple jump and joins an elite group of six Oklahoma women to win a title on the NCAA indoor stage. Boomer Sooner!

Also in the triple jump, Jasmine Akins grabbed seventh place with a 13.43m (44'0.75") leap, adding two points to OU'steam total.

The Sooner Women concluded the weekend with 31 points, the highest count in program history, for fourth place. The Sooners shared the position with Arkansas and Washington.

The Sooner Men concluded the day with 19 points, their highest score in at least 17 years, to place 12th overall in the field.

BJ Green helped the men's side with a bronze medal in the triple jump. The junior leaped 16.50m (54'1.75") on his second attempt for his third first-team All-America honor of his career. Sophomore Kyren Washington followed with a fourth-place finish in the high jump, clearing 2.19m (7'2.25") for his second first-team award.

Also in the men's triple jump, Floyd Whitaker made his NCAA Championships debut and earned a second-team All-America award. The senior narrowly missed scoring position by finishing in ninth place with a 15.90m (52'2.00") leap.

Two Sooners competed in the women's and men's shot put. Paige Low finished 15th in the event with a 16.70m (54'9.50") toss and Ralford Mullings posted an 18.16m (59'7") mark for 13th. Both throwers earned second-team All-America accolades.

It has been quite an Indoor season for the Sooners in Track and Field with some impressive finishes and team marks that just keep improving. Congrtulations to the individual athletes and to the Coaches for programs improvement and accomplishments.
