The Wichita State Mess

I love our Softball team. I am passionate about wanting them to succeed and achieve things no one could dream about before. But what in the world did we witness last night up in Wichita? I thought we had found that fire in the belly of the team again in the first two innings. I thought they looked m...

Re: Let's see if losing is a motivator to 3x NCs

Soonerindallas: After last weekend, I'm not sure (that we hit well enought)is true. We just are not the potent lineup we have been the last few years. We only lost one regular from last year(Lyons), and she was a spurt hitter. Very good at times, but not consistent. We blasted Czech and Gutierrez l...

Re: Sooner Softball Travels to Wichita to play Shockers Today - Tues

Since they don't allow much in the way of triples or HRs and do have a healthy baserunners allowed number, I wonder how many of those are due to walks/HBP, or free bases? Also, doesn't appear they are inclined to run on the bases very much. I hope we get to see Deal start, but my expectations are th...

Re: Some Thoughts Arising From the Texas Series Loss

One thing I want to point out is the hitting depth of our bench has been depleted by the portal somewhat. I don't remember Patty using a single pinch hitter in game 2 and 3 when we really needed a clutch 2 out hit. In previous years, we had Elam, Green, Nugent, Erickson, and other bats that can com...

Some Thoughts Arising From the Texas Series Loss

After sleeping on losing the Texas series and digesting what we witnessed this weekend, I think SoonerGirl1201 is right--the world did not come to an end. And I agree with a couple of points she made. I too think the lack of continuity in the batting order of the lineup is having some unintended con...

Re: It's Time: Oklahoma vs Texas: Red River Rivalry in Austin in '24

Jayda doing Jayda things. You go girl! Proud of Maxwell's performance. She hung in there and in the end fed the ball to the defense behind her. Probably more comforting to her than the defenses she's had to rely on in years past. And not to be in an echo chamber....but yeah, clean up the dang baseru...

Re: Game 1 vs Texas - Thoughts?

Yeah! I'll take the win all day, everyday!! Do you think that, with a decent lead, it is a mental challenge to go into "prevent mode?" How much of the "prevent" is from the players, and how much is from the coaches? I get the thinking in spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds. Go up...

OU Texas Weekend---It's All on the Line Now!!

OU - Texas: The Red River Shootout. Oh my. Where to start? First of all, I think that the version of Texas that went to Stillwater will NOT be the version that will take the field against the Sooners on their home field down in Austin. In spite of the errors that tejas seems to continue to struggle ...

Re: future pitching

. The Sooners will be very young entering the SEC in 2025. But perhaps only 2 or 3 teams in the SEC will have the talent that OU has on their roster. But that young talent will be unproven. Only time and experience will allow them to be "proven". I’m curious who you see as more talented t...

Re: It’s OU-Texas week

The middle game on Saturday Night at 7pm is on national TV--ESPN. Who do we think pitches that game? Maxwell? May? Deal? Personally, I think Maxwell probably gives us the best shot at winning a pitching duel on national TV. But Patty lately has been leading Maxwell in game one of a series. Thoughts?

We're going to have to set up Home Run Village again when the cowgirls come to town to handle the overflow for the "Maxwell / Kilfoyl Duel" !

Re: future pitching

Deal should be #1 next year and Freshman stud Audrey Lowry will be #2. Fall ball will tell if that holds or is reversed. Not sure if Monticelli can grow enough to be a #3 so I'm sure we'll be scouring the portal for one or two pitchers. I hope that Monti and SJ can grow into closers by next year. Mi...
