Re: Just wondering how they would handle rainouts
It is win %. In fact, the conference standings are based on win% not games won.

Re: Five Sooners named in Top 26 finalist for USA Softball POY
Canady is still the favorite to me. Spaid could win it if she breaks the single season HR record. 3rd is hard to say but I don't believe an OU player can win it unless she goes on a hot streak starting this weekend.

Re: Big 12 Softball Bedlam Series: Sooner Host OSU on Fri, Sat, Sun
Love your previews 56! I'm sure it takes a lot of time to put that all together. Thank you for your insights. I know the stats look to be in OU's favor, but I'm not as optimistic as you are. We have definitely been spoiled for the past several years with historic levels of dominance & elite per...

You can tell which game Florida values by who they start in the circle. Starting Brown is a sign they valued the Georgia games more.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GLnZvk3XoAA1vnN?format=jpg&name=900x900 The new rule as written: leading edge of the plate is in fair territory so the catcher's knee coming down on the foul line by definition blocked part of the leading edge. Also, the new rule also doesn't require blocking the ent...

Thank you for sharing them here. I didn't realize how many attended the camp but I am glad to share a first glimpse into our possible future stars.

Re: Youngsters taking batting practice under the lights at Love's Field
The camp photos are all from Marita Hynes. The batting practice after the game can happen probably because all the construction equipment and materials have been put away for game day already. On a normal day I don’t think all the stuff gets put away during the night.

Re: BYU outplays Sooners in 3 phases and wins 9-4 - OU loses 3 of 5
One thing Patty said in the pregame yesterday was: data is showing BYU's pitcher throws a change up first pitch 70%, yet all of our batters still is looking for a hard pitch to hit and just refuse to swing at something they know is likely coming. That to me is a mentality problem. Trying to hit the ...

Re: The Wichita State Mess
I wanted to see our bench players play well because they will be part of OU's future. I want to see them take the opportunities they have and shine, push the starters for playing time. Patty always said iron sharpens iron and intense competition within the team pushes everyone to be better. Now I do...

Re: Some Thoughts Arising From the Texas Series Loss
A group of us was talking last night driving back from Austin. We identified that after the starting nine players right now, that there are not many options to make changes or to pinch-hit. Coor had the only at bat by non-starters this weekend and that was after a defensive replacement. I think onl...

Re: Some Thoughts Arising From the Texas Series Loss
One thing I want to point out is the hitting depth of our bench has been depleted by the portal somewhat. I don't remember Patty using a single pinch hitter in game 2 and 3 when we really needed a clutch 2 out hit. In previous years, we had Elam, Green, Nugent, Erickson, and other bats that can come...

Re: future pitching
. The Sooners will be very young entering the SEC in 2025. But perhaps only 2 or 3 teams in the SEC will have the talent that OU has on their roster. But that young talent will be unproven. Only time and experience will allow them to be "proven". I’m curious who you see as more talented t...

Re: Why are our pitchers seldom
IMO Patty badly wanted to make Maxwell the closer because she has a good change up. Keeney and Monticelli probably can throw one but it is not reliable. At the highest level, you are not going to be able to throw pitches by hitters on speed alone. You have to have a change in speed somewhere to prev...
