I know they will put texas #1 and most likely OU #2. Not sure I care too much who comes to Norman. I honestly expect them to do what they did last year and under rank a team like Clemson last year so they can put them in our regional hoping to knock us out there. I know, it is all conspiracy but I have watched year after year and it always appears they stack the deck against OU. The ultimate was I think in 2017 when we were the 10 seed and clearly deserved to be way higher than that - but then went out and beat Auburn at their place in the SR and won the whole thing WCWS! It would be nice to just get a just ranking (#2 at the lowest) and have just/appropriately ranked teams come to Norman for the regional and super regional.

I kinda expect to see either Oregon, Utah, or Miami of Ohio in our regional.

I actually think we get Bama for our Super Regional.
Ratings would be off the charts.

Interesting that Texas* will be matched up with Texas A&M in the Supers, assuming they both win their Regionals. OU gets Florida St. under the same scenario.
I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong!

Another interesting thought... All 13 teams from the SEC made the tourney. And next year, OU and Texas join the mix.
I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong!

I wasn't sure Fl St would make the top 16, and Bama wound up a notch higher than I thought. But I like the FSU matchup equally well. I'm not sure they are a WCWS caliber team this year but happy to have the rematch set up in Norman.

#1 OU 3 - The Terriers 4
Half of the Sooners did have the flu. The crowd in Las Cruces was amazing for the game against Boston U and for the game against New Mexico State. They had to remove people from the aisles and walkways due to overcrowding.
It was the first place I witnessed "Soonermania". There was a ring completely around the Sooners bus about 15 deep wanting autographs and just to talk to the team.

Thanks for that bit of information Believer. I went back to see what our team looked like back then and we were fresh off two national championships, ranked #1 in the country and had a lineup that looked like this:
RF Mendes
2B Clifton
1B Knighten
DH Alo
3B Romero
CF Pendley
LF Aviu
SS Arnold
C Wodach
SP Mariah Lopez
RP Paige Lowary
CP Paige Parker
What a lineup! And I wouldn't have thought they would lose to a Boston Univ Team....but it makes sense from your post.
Later in that same season, Boston was sent to Norman (again!) for Regionals where we Run-Ruled them 9-0 in 5 innings---avenging the loss I suppose.
Later in that same post season, the Sooners lost two games in the WCWS to Washington and finished as runners up.
It would be fun to see a team like that in a varsity/alumni exhibition game against our new Sooner team next fall, if any of those players were still active enough to do that sort of thing. I know Clifton and Alo are, but don't know about the rest.
Lastly, Welcome to the Board "WhiffleBall". I see that was your first post to SoonerTimes and peaked my interest in looking up this information. Hope you have an enjoyable time with us Sooner Fans and we all look forward to future posts from you.

Here is the Box Score from that game against Boston U.
https://soonersports.com/documents/2018 ... 467548.pdf
I cant believe that the attendance was only 595 people. The place was packed. I guess there must have been that many fans standing outside of the stadium in addition to what is listed.
The 3rd Boston U pitcher, Lizzie Annerino, probably only threw her fast ball in the high 50's. But she had a change up off of that, and a change up slower than that one. She threw three very slow speeds and had some direction drop on the change ups. She just lulled you to sleep. She pitched 4.2 innings and gave up 4 hits and 5 walks but OU did not score off her. Boston scored 2 unearned runs in the top of the 6th to win the game 4-3. The Sooners pitched Lopez, Lowry and Parker in the game.
Later that year, Boston U was sent to the OU Regional. Annerino pitched to OU again. This time she allowed 1 hit and 2 walks and allowed 3 unearned runs as she did not record an out in the game.
