Music
Here is some music to lift your spirits, or to put you in the mood for
the game. All are mp3 and most of them are from the
OU site,
and can be downloaded there too. Below are the words (in case you don't
know) and a little rare number that you may need to know for the next Sooner
Trivia contest!!! Click on the title to download the song.

You don't have to be an alma mater to sing this...you just have to know
the words.
O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A
Our chant
rolls on and on
Thousands
strong join heart and

Of colors
proudly gleaming red and white
'Neath a
western sky

March
This is the March heard over and over during the game...just a little
added get-up-and-go which you will of course need the words for!
We march on
down the field
with our
heads held high,
determined to
win, any battle were in...
we're gonna
fight with all our might
for the Red
and White
March on,
march on down the field
for our
victory is nigh,
you know we
came to win this game
for Oklahoma,
and we will
or know the reason why.
Here are the original lyrics
including the original introduction, but is not played on the above mp3.
O.K. Oklahoma, K.O.
the foe today.
We say O.K. Oklahoma, the Sooners know the way. 'Ray!
S double-O-N-E-R-S! We'll win today or miss our guess.
O.K. Oklahoma, K.O. the foe today. We'll march down the field with our heads
held high,
Determined to win any battle we're in,
We'll fight with all our might for the Red and White.
March on, march on down the field for a victory is nigh.
You know we came to win the game for Oklahoma,
And so we will or know the reason why!
We'll march down the field with our heads held high,
With ev'ry resource we'll hold to the course,
And pledge our heart and soul to reach the goal.
March on, march on down the field as we sing the battle cry.
Dig in and fight for the Red and White of Oklahoma,
So we'll take home a victory or die!

A Little History
Fred Waring had a program in the 1930's and would do an arrangement for a
fight song for a university for the most signatures that week....Sooner faithful
rose to the challenge and here is that arrangement. The song debuted on
The Chesterfield Hour. Here the original December 1, 1939 broadcast
premiere of O.K. Oklahoma, as performed by Waring's Pennsylvanians and
arranged by Oklahoma native Lara Hoggard.
More History....
...and probably my most favorite song (and that includes all the
classics, opera, jazz, and contemporary music) performed by my most favorite
performers - the state song as arranged by Fred Waring, especially for the Pride
of Oklahoma. Crank this puppy up and put it on the loud speaker - no one
can resist this composition and arrangement and MEMORIZE THE WORDS!!!!
Oklahoma,
where the wind comes
sweepin' down
the plain,
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma, ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
makin' lazy
circles in the sky.
We know we belong to the land
And the land we belong to is grand!
And when we say--Yeeow! A-yip-i-o-ee ay!
We're only sayin' You're doin' fine, Oklahoma! Oklahoma--O.K.U.
Trivia - as promised - The
Yell
Apparently when OU had one of it's first football games and debates, they
needed a yell. Kansas State ain't got nothing on this yell!!!
